I don't know if this is the right place to post, but I am trying to get my SLingbox to work on my Dash. The Beta 1.05 crashed upon connecting, and the 1.o will not work. Is there a solution?

Yes: This crash is supposed to be fixed by the above beta release. You can apply to the program or wait until the public release of the newer version (date TBD).
How long does it take to be "selected" to try the beta? I've applied as required and suggested by the MS Mobile people.
Pardon my ignorance, but when will I know if my application has been accepted? And how will I get access to the link for the Beta release?
yeah, i would like to know my status as well, i filled out an application a week or two ago.
it seems ridiculous to me to have a public beta and then a closed beta process for something that is essentially a bug fix. i was also in the beta for the original mobile player. but thats sling for you...kind of like that 50 dollar adaptor for my slingbox pro that i've had pre-ordered now for 7 weeks.
I just downloaded the Beta Version. The Auto resolution now works (176 x 226) great. There was a little hiccup (looked like it was going to kick me out of the program) when I tried to go full screen, but it did work. I also tried it at a higher resolution 320 x 240, the image looked exactly the same as 176 x 226, oh well. Overall it is working much better.
Downloaded beta last night -- couldn't be happier! 320X240 is working great, full screen is awesome - now how do I get the sound to come through a headset rather than the speaker? Still fooling around with the improvements - so far so good.
Which Beta version is working with the Dash? The exisitng beta, or a private beta version?
To answer snmenashi - the private beta version is the one with the Dash fix.
Here's the latest:
A handful of people have now downloaded the private beta version. I'll add another chunk of people--from the application list--once we get some unexpected registration issues resolved.
If you've already applied, sit tight (and maybe rub a rabbit's foot?). If you haven't, there's still time: see the link at the top of this thread.
If you're selected from among the applicant pool, you'll get an email from me personally as early as tomorrow or as late as this weekend.
If you don't get an email, don't fret: I'll likely add another round of folks next week, or the official software will be released soon enough (exact date TBD).
Really appreciate everyone's patience on this: we're very close to folding all of you Dash folks into the mix, and we can't wait either!
Thanks, really looking forward to it. I just got my Dash and the screen is so much nicer than on my older MDA.

What about us BlackJack users? I just applied for the Beta and will test it on my Blackjack. The current version of software only works if you staticly set the resolution to 160x120. Possibly will work lower but why do that if you're rockin' HSDPA?
hi
What is HSPDA? Is that like 3G?

Yes it's 3G. I think it means High Speed Packet Data Access or something. get about 400~800kbps on Cing.
hi
I've been been at a steady 900-950kbps in NYC on Cingulars 3G network. Its def faster than than EVDO...unfortunately im still at 160x120 unitl a new version of the software is released!!! Arrrg.
FYI Slingjuice...Sling Support does not imagine that the release for the DASH will work on the BJ...but who knows.

Well they better get on it. The Dash isn't even 3G or EVDO...
hi
The Dash uses EDGE. It's the first T-Mobile device I've had that actually shows the "E" for connection status. My previous MDA II only showed "G" - I assume it was only GPRS then, though supposedly the device supported EDGE. (Slingplayer Mobile worked fine on the MDA II -- great on Wifi, and OK over the air.)

I like say to one word before I dive in... "WOW !!"
On Monday, I walked into T-Mobile store and got myself a Dash.
On Tuesday I got 2 GB Micro-SD card so I can install SlingPlayer on my Dash. Hume, can install because doesn't support Dash Arrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! I found this thread and it's very helpful to see experience with Beta player for Dash. Thank God, SlingMedia is working on it.
On Wednesday, What the hack let me fill up the beta tester form. Also, I was thinking maybe I should drop an email to Sharon to consider me for beta tester (ASAP) but did not sent her an email.
Well, I guess, I've to wait for it just as I did for SlingPlayer for Mac.
At 11:42 PM ET, my Dash pinged and I saw an email. Guess Who!!!
It's Sharon and she told me to go for a test drive with SlingPlayer for Dash (Beta). I was amazed and I was so happy!!!!
The install part went smoothly and with matter of minutes I was able to my TV shows on my Dash. I was able to connect old and pro SlingBox. Once, a while I was not able make connection to Pro Slingbox but with my Mac/Pc I was able to connect.
I'm learning Nav stuff and I'll certainly point out few things... Please stay tuned...
BTW, I was able to watch the show wirelessly via T-Moble Edge Network in Normal display mode and video isn't that bad at all but if you go full mode the show get choppy...
THANKS SHARON FOR MAKING MY DAY..
First time poster, long time lurker.
I'm going to have to gush a little, here - I am incredibly pleased with the level of customer service I got, and the end result - I'm slinging my DirecTivo to my T-Mo Dash, 320 x 240 with no stutter, high motion over my WLAN, and awfully good based on how much info is transmitted over EDGE.
I'm using the 1.0.5.37 beta sling mobile player, and haven't been able to crash it yet. I will say that it taxes the 201mhz OMAP processor in the Dash pretty hard, but you're processing video, for pete's sake!
Edit - Just managed to crash it for the first time - was slinging my tivo over wifi, but the dash was connected to the usb cable to my laptop. I untethered, got about 2 seconds of video and audio, then hang-up city. No hard/soft reset rquired.
I've done the hardware-based start-up thing successfully - I'm here to tell you that Sling has got the formula right. Sharon is a class act, responding directly (and *gasp* returned a call!!!), and the rest of the support side is knowledgable and friendly.
More comments as play with the software, but so far, so good.

Hey Sharon,
I downloaded and installed the Dash Beta (v 1.05.37). Some observations....
1) Auto Resolution mode seems to be defaulting to something smaller than 320x240. Not sure why since the screen is 320x240 I believe.
2) 320x240 Resolution Mode - When I switch to this mode by turning off Auto Resolution, the video appears the same size as before so you must force the full screen player mode.
Thus, I am not 100% sure that the menus are working correctly on the player-->options-->encoding. I am playing with the different manual options to see if I can observe a difference.
BTW, I am using mine with the Slingbox A/V if its important over a WiFi network. I also have Comcast at home with 768k bps upstream bandwidth.

OK. Adding to my last post. When you Enable Slingstream and Auto Resolution Mode, it doesn't change the grayed out parameters, which confused me especially since the video that results is not full screen (320x240) thereafter. By hitting the * (or enabling full screen mode) the screen resizes and the quality is good. I think the fact that the manual items are grayed out with the most recent settings confused me.
My mistake, and thought I would post it here in case other have the same reaction.
Bottom line, quality of video with the new beta is good and working fine especially with slingstream and auto resolution enabled.
