Will the latest yet to be delivered Beta update work for the recently announced 3G Blackjack from Cingular ?   I plan on picking mine up as soon as it arrives.

My samsung i320n currently doesn't run properly and tech support was no big help.  I got video streaming in on a verticle position and 1/4 screen is not shown.  Tech support said it's been reported and the phone rep asked me to contact Samsung.  Finger pointing.

I tried both releases as well... hopefully, the engineers will look in to this.

I had the Slingbox and just got the Blackjack. It does not show the screen unless you hit the * and that is just for a moment. After a while, I get a screen in the lower left and its on its side. The sound is constantly running but no picture. I think there is an issue here tha Slingbox has not addressed. If it worked for my 3125 and it worked for the Q smartphone, why doesnt it work on this device????

Yell This is not cool. Slinbox, get to work please.

i second that, i am willing to be first in line for a beta test on this one please rush this as soon as possible

I emailed Sharon from Slingbox to see if we can test out the Dash Beat too. These devices are on the same architecture. We need a fix.

Call support and ask to have a form filled out for refering to product development.

Hi all...

I too am a proud new owner of a Samsung BlackJack (i607).  When I first installed the slingbox mobile player, I experienced the same problem that djsouthpaw mentioned...  I called the support desk, but they noted they were aware of the issue, and took my info...they've promised to get this taken care of soon...especially since this is very popular new phone...

 NOW FOR THE GOOD PART!!!

 I have found a workaround...

It seems the issue is that the sling player doesn't properly support the native resolution of the BlackJack's screen (320x240) (i figured this out because I could see the video when I pressed the menu button...).  Here's what you need to do:

 1. Launch sling mobile player but do not connect

2. click on Menu > Player Options > Encoding

3. Scroll down, and uncheck "auto resolution mode"

4. Change the video resolution to "160x120"

5. Hit OK...and you're set!

The downside is that, unless you view in full screen, the size of the image is real small...  But watching it in full screen should be fine... and hopefully the picture quality will improve if Sling can get this to work in 320x240...

 ENJOY!

It is working very well, my only question is how you get the favorites to appear...ie your fav networks etc etc...i can't seem to make it work. Should be # sign or space bar but neither are working for me. Any ideas?

They dont on the smartphone version. Unfortunately SB Mobile for SP only gives you the option to edit the favorites but not show them.

November 16, 2006 10:14 PM

DJSouthpaw,

Glad it worked out for you!!!

And no worries about posting at HowardForums...just logged on, and saw you posted the workaround (and gave me credit, which is much appreciated!).  Hopefully this helps some of the frustrated Sling users out there...

I just want to get it out of 123 mode and into FAV mode...like in this video

 any ideas?

thanks for the temp fix, though the quality is realy bad at full screen , i guess we can put up for it until sling decides to get thier stuff together, mean time i am using ORB for now ..

I dont Understand why its taking so long its just a support for 320 X 240 size , its not like the Dash where there is it crashes and wont even play...

put me down for a beta test

November 17, 2006 6:36 PM

You can add me to the list when the beta comes out.  I wish I read the forums before I bought the software.  Hope they can come up with an update soon... I love my slingbox and my blackjack...Now I just need them to work together!

Please add me for the Beta also. I got my Blackjack last night. Great Phone! Super 3G Speed...

The XM preview (ethel) is awesome...Sure glad they supplied a second Battery!Smile

I would like to be on the beta list as well, I would have to assume that its the same as the T-Mo Dash given the similar problems that Dash owners are experiencing. I'm getting 897kbit/second downloads in NYC on cingulars 3G network...now I just need some 320x240 content to stream!!! Hope they get it working shortly!

And be anle to have the favorites on the bottom as well. I havent heard anything from Sling but this issue is getting major exposure already. Can we get the dash version that all those testers say work well? Hello Sling? Are you reading this?

November 18, 2006 5:40 PM

IS using the slingbox pro make a difference or we still have to wait for a fix on sling's behalf ?

is there anyone from sling that can comunicate with us and let us know what we need to know?

November 18, 2006 11:56 PM

I have a sling box pro...I still need to set the reso to 160x120 before I start my stream? Also does anyone know the minimum uppload speed on your slingbox's end to remotely stream 640x480. Im guessing it would have to be 700kbps or so?

November 19, 2006 1:44 PM

The 160x120 workaround is what makes Slingplayer work on my T-Mobile Dash as well, so maybe there's something to the theory that they have a similar architecture.

Electrician: It's not going to matter if you have a Pro, A/V, original, etc. The issue is on the side of the player software and your phone, not the Slingbox side.

BigEvan: Try it and see what happens. If you can't get it to play correctly, set the player resolution on your phone to 160x120 as TriNe0 indicated above.

Its sad that no one from Sling has gotten back to anyone including me regarding this issue. Can they make the t-mo latest beta version available to us too??? That one seems to work with better resolution. Hello Sling, is anyone there?
