I recently downloaded and started playing F.E.A.R. It's pretty fun, especially for free. Matt and I played for a few minutes just now. Is anyone interested in some first-person carnage? If so, reply to this post, and I can give you server information (I resurrected my Linux box upstairs, thanks to a new power supply).

I'm not a huge FPS fan, but this is a lot of fun to play multi-player. Let's get some SlingCommunity folks together and hook up online for a little F.E.A.R. action. Who knows, maybe we could even get a SlingCommunity Team going? Who's game?

While you're at it, grab Xfire. It is an easy way to find your online buddies, and it includes server browsers. My Xfire name is "mistergrinch."

What is a good time for you guys? We can set something up. I'll be playing later on tonight for sure.

I'll rename my server and call it "[Sling]F.E.A.R." so we can have a semi-private place to play. I'll leave it set to eight players for now. If you want the IP address, send me a PM. The server will stay up, so feel free to connect any time to "look around."

TeamSpeak is pretty cool! Would be a great place to hold a Sling Community chat.

Your setup is working great but we need a few more folks in the F.E.A.R. game. Come on guys don't be scared of a little fraggin', if you like FPS games or Halo online you will love this one!

FYI, Yog, "theb0y" is now online on his own machine and hunting for ya. ;)

I just bought a new USB headset to use with TeamSpeak. The link is for Wal-Mart, but I got mine at Gamstop for $29.99. The box states it's for PS2, but it works fine with a PC; it shows up as "Logitech USB Headset." I suspect the XBox 360 version works fine as well.

TeamSpeak can be configured to send voices to the earphone instead of having them come through the PC speakers. If your game sounds come out of the earphone, go to the sound control panel in Windows and change the output device to your sound card.

Yogi do you play Delta Force: Black Hawk Down-Team Sabre multiplayer PC game? If so, I got a game server running & a dedicated TeamSpeak server too (67.18.58.10:8805).

The game & TS server is titled (SLINGBOX GAMERS), dedicated to all slingers. (LOL)

Brandon, today I bought the PS2-USB adapter I mentioned a while back; it was a plug-and-play affair. While I definitely won't use it with first-person shooters, it will be good for third-person shooters. In your case, you could set one stick (X/Y axes) to strafe left/right and the other (Z axis) to look around in FEAR.

I now use (with appropriate adapters) the Phoenix Revolution PS2 controller with both my Xbox and PC (I don't have a PS2). Why that controller? The sticks, D-pad, and main buttons can all be moved around to suit taste. I have the sticks on the far left and right, the D-pad bottom left, and the buttons bottom right. You could set it up like an Xbox controller if you wanted.

If you prefer an Xbox controller, you could either use a 360 controller or a regular controller with a USB adapter (look on eBay).
