Just bought the PAL version (UK) - seems like the IR code for XBOX (not 360) is included as it it is with the US versions (one of the DVD player options).

Anybody knows where to find a xbox IR bin file (for the PAL version)?

Good luck with that one. For some stupid reason, they're not allowing the Euro/US codes to be interchangeable. It's very annoying.

I've a similar problem, with a U.S. Slingbox that is in Ireland. I'm in the U.S. I can't get the "Euro" codes that are available in the UK version of the Slingbox. It's really frustrating.

What's even more irritating, is Sling Media's S-I-L-E-N-C-E on this. You'll notice, as i did, that neither they nor their moderators ever respond to posts on this question.

Wait 'til you see...nobody will respond to this...

I'll respond. :) Sling Media doesn't run this site nor own us moderators. We moderators are volunteers and don't work for anyone at the Sling Media company.
That being said, I don't know why the European and US codes are different, or if the Xbox 360 code is still missing since the last release. There is a way using JP1 and remote Master to install remote BIN files. Or convert US to Uk bin files. A seach on the site will have alot of info.

What Euro codes are you missing? Try downloading the UK version of the player and running it.

Sorry Brandon, I tend to get annoyed about these things, and thus I'll post some angry blurbs sometimes. Usually though, I have good reason!

As we know, the US/UK versions of the Slingbox are definitely different. The software however, I have now deduced to be the same. I cannot find any difference in the UK version. Installing the UK version does not give me the UK codes (Sky, etc.).

I had the US software on my computer originally, and tried uninstallng it and then reinstalling the UK version. that worked okay, but when I came to "Choose the country you are in" the UK was not an option.

At first I thought maybe there was something about my computer, that it was "remembering" that the old software was on there: I uninstalled it again, cleaned out the registry, and did a search for all files and folders containing the word "sling."

That still didn't work. I'm a computer consultant by trade, and therefore have Ghost "images" of all my computers, so I completly hosed the computer - effectively a Windows reinstall. I even went as far as using the Regional Settings to setup UK English, keyboard, etc.

Guess what? It still didn't work! No UK codes!

Here's what I think happens: The first thing the SlingPlayer Setup does is says, "Where's your Slingbox?" After it finds your Slingbox, it goes through the rest of the setup. As far as I can tell, if it finds a US Slingbox, it will never give you the opportunity to say, "I am in the UK." There is something "hard coded" in there to prevent that, once it detects you have a US Slingbox.

Someone is going to have to reverse compile the software to figure this out. I don't have the time. I've already spent 3 x trips to Ireland (from San Francisco!) getting this setup.

I've also spent a lot of time on JP1 remotes, but still haven't got full remote codes for my devices in Ireland.

Nonetheless, despite my anger and occasional outburst, I am generally happy with my setup. I found some codes that give me Power and Numeric Keyboard on my Irish Pace (NTL) cable box, so I can at least turn the box on and off, and manually enter the channel I need.

Thanks though, and any further ideas welcome!

Macker.

Just to blow the theory out the water completely with two moderators comments in the thread :-)

I am in the same position I have a NTSC box that doesn't really control sky+ as well as it could - i have to use third party codes..

When I was beta testing PAL and afterwards I was told by sling direct that the infrared codes used are completely different between the two boxes so not compatible - and there is no way of porting... I am not saying if this is completely true or not but I have nothing that proves otherwise

Sweeney -

Go to Slingbox Setup. (I'm presuming you're using a U.S. Slingbox?)

- For "Location of your Slingbox" choose "USA". Click Next.
- For Television Source, choose "Cable Box (analog or digital cable)". Click Next.
- For brand, choose "Pace".
- For Device Model: "IMagicTV'.

That should give you the Power button, and the numeric keypad (to manually enter channels).

This works on a ntl Ireland "Pace" Cable Box model number DC221KN, as shown here:

If you want an up to date (Word format) NTL Channel Guide, post back here and let me know, and I'll send you one I typed up from scratch myself. It will save you a lot of time, and possibly hassle, if you enter the "wrong" channel. Some channels prompt you for a PIN, which you can't "enter" remotely, and you have no Channel Up/Down to navigate away. My Channel Guide points these out (NTL channels 309 and up, and 410 and up - stay away from those!).

Thanks for the fast reply.

I tried what you suggestede, but could not find the imajic option.

I t must not be listed in the UK version ( I have Pal box in Galway)

I am in Galway now and would love to be able to get NTL digital channels when I get back to Boston.

The set up shows dc221kkd  but it does not  control.

I have tested the emmitter with a camera and it is transmitting.

I have the emmitter positioned on the extreme right of the box ,right where the power light blinks when I use the remote control.

Any other advice would be appreciated.

This is terrible. You really have my sympathies. This is the sort of crap that will eventually lose Sling it's base. Sooner or later someone else will come along with a device that has a better set of remote codes.

This confirms what I have thought all along. They have completely separated the way the two boxes (US & UK) handle the remote codes. There is no good reason (that I can see) to do this.

I know the Slingbox is now for sale in Ireland, because I saw it for sale up at Computer City in Ballyogan when I was there a few weeks ago. You would think, if they are going to sell their device in Ireland, they would ensure that it has the remote codes for the SOLE SUPPLIER of cable television in the country! Whoever's responsible for this at Sling Media should be fired.

My only suggestion is to just keep trying different codes, trial and error. Let me know how you get along.

In the meantime, I'll see if I can think of something else.

You'll always get that "blink" off the box by the way. It's just picking up "something" from the remote, but not acting upon it.
