Just got my slingbox pro for christmas!

I've got a dishnetwork vip622 receiver and I've got everything working nicely except the audio.  I'd bet money I've got the wrong hookup but dammed if I can figure out what to do!

Anyone want to walk me through the input/output setup for audio only?

Thanks for helping out a damsel in distress!

I have Comcast Digital but I might be able to help anyway.

I had the same problem, how do you have it hooked up? Do you have an open S video and audio outputs on your receiver? If you have an open s video but are passing the audio through your slingbox remember the input with the s video is #2 so you must make sure your output is on #2.

right no, I've just got the s-video out from the receiver in to the slingbox, and the av audio cables out from the receiver into the sbox.  The only problem I see is that the receiver is a dual tuner, and I have a feeling that where I've plugged in the audio cables ther is incorrect.  But all of the other plugs are taken, and I wouldn't know how to "pass through"

Hence my cry for help!

If you only have one set of audio outputs from your DVR, you need to get a couple of Y cables so you can split the audio and send it to both your slingbox and your TV. You can pick these up at any tv shop, radio shack, etc.

You can test temporarily by unhooking the "main" audio outputs and hooking the cable to the slingbox to those outputs and see if it works. If it does, get the Y cables. If not, then we need to figure out why you don't have audio.

You should currently have a red and white audio cable going from the receiver to your TV or stereo. Disconnect this cable and connect it to the slingbox input. Then connect a cable from the slingbox output back to the TV or stereo where the other one was originally..

I don't see the need for a Y cable.  As Carl says, keep SB running on ur computer and find the audio out (on your reciever) that gives you sound on your computer.  Once you have that, then take the audio that you had going to your TV and use the Audio out on the SB Pro.

thnaks guys!  when I get home from work, I'm going to do what you said and report back here.  I wish I could do it before work......

December 26, 2006 4:30 PM

sigh, I can't believe I figured out how to set up EVERYTHING but can't get the audio right!!!!!!!!

argh!  It's the damned dual tuner receiver's fault!  So far, moving cables around, I've been able to get audio from either the tv or my ppc, but not both at the same time.  And I've been able to get audio from tv2 as well!  But, of course, not what I'm looking for.....

So right now, my audio set-up is as follows:  red and white cables from tv to slingbox in 1 (there is an in 1 and in 2), and then red and white cables from slingbox out 1 to "component in" on the tv.

There are just so many red and white options on the tv!  And with the dual tuner receiver, I'm trying to only readjust tv 1 so I don't mess up tv 2 and reaaally make the household mad!

I'll keep plugging away (literally!) until I hear from ya'll again!

WooW

You should take the red and white from the Receiver TO the SB Pro IN whr you have your yellow video in.  Then red and white from SB Pro Out to the TV.

OR

From reciever TV1 take the yellow, red, white TO the SB Pro IN Yellow, red, white.

From SB Pro OUT yellow, red, white TO the TV

I am home so u can PM me if you like more interactive help

Where I am:

If I connect the red/white cable from dish receiver to sb pro in 1, I get tv volume; if I connect those same cables to sb pro in 2 I get ppc volume.  Am I missing a connection?

If you leave the red/white on SB Pro in 1 you have sound and picture?  If yes then does your TV have sound and picture in that configuration?

sorry--not my intent--i did a search and got nothing relevant back.  i have no clue what a "thread" is.  where do i post a question, if not here?

David:

You can go to forum home then select an area and once in a spacific topic area you can start your own thread - which is really what this is you are in now - a question, a topic that people start and others join in the "thread".  BTW Do you have your model number correct?  I did a search on here and on Google and came up empty.  Check your model number again.

I was having a similar  problem when I set my SB AV on a Comcast dual tuner HD PVR box and finally figured it out.

From the main menu I went  to Setup, then to Audio Settings, then Optimal Stereo set to "Yes" - that seemed to do the trick, now it 's working great.
