If I set up my slingbox at home and am traveling for business can I watch one channel on the road while my family watches another or would I have to watch what they are watching? Thanks for all your help.

The short answer is it depends on your setup. In my case I have my cable split - one directly to the SB without the digital cable box (can only see Ch's 1 -130 non digital) and the other to my digital cable box then to my Tivo 2 from my cable box.  Therefore if someone is watching TV through the Tivo I can watch another channel on regular cable on my laptop.

There is a great deal of important information on these posts.  If you take the time (get a beer or a cup of java), relax and search on:

- Your TV source (cable, satelite, etc, be specific on the model of the unit you have)

- Your router (be specific on your model number)

- Your computer model

- Your phone model

Read on and enjoy!

It's not a yes or no answer.  The slingbox works like any other TV.

But his question was rather simple, can he watch a different channel than those at his home are watching....

From the post i found the answer would have been a simple "no"....

But according to djjstew the answer is obviously yes....

Thanks for the info djjstew .........

raleman is right; a simple idea as mine above can become complex depending on your A/V setup so as raleman says; read on.......

The slingbox is a TV, and you hook it up like any other TV, and it works like any other TV, the only difference beeing the picture isnt shown where the box is. And depending on what you want to do you will need a certain type of slingbox.
