I recently changed my wireless router at home, and now my Slingbox is not being recognized by my laptop in the same network.  The slingbox is directly wired to my new wireless router, which is directly wired to my home computer.  Is the slingbox still somehow paired to my old wireless router?

Very well could be.  Try pressing and holding the reset button on the Slingbox for 5-10 secs. This should reset it for your new router. You may have to rerun the setup wizard afterwards though.

I have a similar problem, but I have not changed any hardware.  the only changes have been upgrades to the sling software.

I have tried to reset the slingbox, and rerun the setup, but I continually get no slingbox found.

Any luck with "No Slingbox Found?" I have the same issue. No hardware changes. Are there any issues with router ports going to sleep on DI-624?

well it appears this 'Community' can be no help at all!! Have you fellas found a way of solving your problem, cause I'm having the same problem, and i too have not changed hardware until recently, but the problem arose previously to the upgrade. I am using a slingbox pro connected to an Apple Airport Extreme, and i am slinging from a G5, 2 Powerbooks and a Treo 700wx. When i use the slingplayer to setup the slingbox i see "select your slingbox" screen, locating slingbox is int eh bottom corner, but no matter how long i wait there is no slingbox found...any assistance would be appreciated , thank you.

There are two ways I found to fix this. One, totally disconnect your Slingbox, and reconnect it in the recomended order. This worked for me once, but eventually it happened again. The second, and what solved my problem, is to call Sling, and get a warranty replacement. I tried for a while to solve this, and after talking with Sling, they suggested I send it in for replacement. Since, I recieved the new unit, all is well.

Thank you for your rapid response. Seems like ill have to wait till tomorrow to call sling support and see if they will send me a replacement, i have had my slingbox since it's debut. Also just to make sure i am doing this correctly, could you please let me know the recommended order of connections? I can't thank you enough, of this entire so called 'community' there has been only one person to respond with something that will bring me closer to enjoying my slingbox again...thanks for the help 'Will0861' much appreciated!!!

I don't remember exactly, but you'll want to unplug everything. Then plug in the network, and av cables. Once those are in, then you can plug the power cord in. You may have to do it more than once, but give it a shot. If that doesn't work, look for the manual on the Sling site, and it will explain how to connect everything properly. Will

Did the new router change the IP schema of  your home network? What I mean is.. did the old router have dhcp that handd out IP addresses like 192.168.2.10 but the new router is handing out ip addresses like 192.168.1.10

Your Slingbox may still be holding onto the the old IP address on xxx.xxx.2.xx network while all your other devices have already picked up a new address on the xxx.xxx.1.xx network.

You can use the slingplayer to check the IP address of your slingplayer and then compare it to to the network settings of your pc.

At a command prompt on your PC type the word "ipconfig /all" without the quotes something like this should come up.

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.50
Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1
Then look at your slingbox IP settings. The only difference between the PC and the slingbox should be the number after the third dot in the assigned IP address; but the subnet mask and the default gateway need to match the pc because that will be what determines connectivity.

A linksys router default IP is on this network: 192.168.1.x
but a d-link default IP is on this network: 192.168.0.x
an Apple Airport Extreme uses the 10.0.1.x network which is also a non broadcasting network just like 192.168.x.x so there is a good chance that if you were using a different brand router that this is your issue.

So you see changing the router can change your default network which in turn can leave your slingbox orphaned on the old network.

From your slingbox directory highlight your slingbox and choose edit. Then choose the slingbox configuration tab, then choose the network settings "change" button.

So if you can't do it via the slingplayer software then maybe you need to temporariily put the old router in place OR change the new router to hand out the IP schema the same way the old router did. You can generally change your network schema on a router.

Email me if this is the issue and you need help.

I just realized that you are using a Mac, no biggie though... You can still check your IP on a Mac you just can't do "ipconfig /all"

Here is how you do it in OS X: http://www.calarts.edu/network/tutorials/Check_ip/osx.html

The rest of my post can still outline the possible issue.

I think if you just reset the Slingbox it's much easier.

###

Slingbox has an old IP address

Essentially what’s going on is the Slingbox was operating with a different router setup and so it already has an IP address it. Now, however, with the new router, the IP address the Slingbox was previously using is no longer valid and unfortunately, it can not communicate with your new router.

If you forgot your passwords, well we don’t need to tell you what happened there!

What to do

Note: You must be on your home network and physically able to access the Slingbox to perform a factory reset.

With your Slingbox powered on, press and hold the Reset button on the back of the Slingbox for five seconds. The lights on the front of the Slingbox quickly flash from left to right, and then flash slowly. The Slingbox is reset after 30 seconds.

Once reset, the Power light stays solid. If your Slingbox is connected to your router, the Network light will also go on when it receives an IP address.
