Finally got a sling pro, my hd adapter just showed up today so I hooked everything up.  The picture quality is fantastic, but I can't get the remote to work.  I see lots of posts with similar questions, try this, try that... seem to be the replies.

I am hooked up to Tuner #1 using the HD adapter, how do I get the 942 remote to work for DVR functions ?

Are you saying you've got basic controls but not DVR?  When you go through the AV setup what are you selecting?  The Pro and HDConnect should be the solution to all the old threads...

Slinging Tivo Series 2, Tivo HD, and TW cable from a Pro. Slinging Tivo HD from a Solo, Slinging Humax DRT800, and TW cable from a Classic to Sprint Mogul, AT&T SX66, N62, 8525, and Dell Inspiron 8600 with Sprint EVDO over Windstream DSL.

On build 1.4.0.206

Configured for Component input

Satellite / Free to air receiver

Echostar/Dish

DVR 942

None of the buttons on the virtual remote seem to work (guide, menu, skip forward, skip back, pause, etc..  Same for using the menu options for selecting remote features like Menu, skip, back, pause, My DVR, etc...

If I re configue and selecte the 721 the major buttons seem to work.  I am not super familiar with the 721 to know the major diffrences between the 721 remote and the 942.  Guess I will play with the 721 remote and see if everything works.

The problem is Dish remotes have different addresses and the sling software only supports a small amount of the 36 addresses (in face they only support 3 addresses)

To fix this on your 942 press the SYS INFO button on the front of your 942.

On your 942 Remote (Marked #1 on the bottom) press and hold the SAT button until all the buttons flash.  Then let go.

Now press the number 1 on the remote.

Then press the # button on the remote

Now aim it at your 942 (with the sys information screen still up) and press the Record Button on the remote.

This sets your remote to address 1.

Now choose the 942 in the slingplayer setup and it should not fully control your 942.

I do wish sling would support all of the remote addresses,  for me I have 4 receivers in one room. :)

Thanks for the info, mine was already at channel 1, so I tried 2, and that did not, but 3 did.
