Wow!! this is cool!!! actually they´re looking for beta testers at http://www.lebowski37.com/
Las Vegas — Consumer Electronics Show (CES) — January 9, 2007 — CBS Corporation (NYSE: CBS and CBS.A) and Sling Media, Inc. today announced a beta test of a new technology designed to help audiences share short segments of programming. The experiment centers around a new application and service from Sling Media called Clip+Sling, which was demonstrated during a CES Keynote presentation by CBS Corporation President, Leslie Moonves. The trial will begin sometime in the second quarter of 2007.
Clip+Sling gives Slingbox owners the power to clip and share content directly from live or recorded television, in a simple process via the SlingPlayer application. Slingbox customers will be able to clip and share content with friends and family that are a part of their digital community and who aren’t necessarily Slingbox users. This new feature will be built into both the desktop and mobile versions of the SlingPlayer software. Customers can expect to see this new functionality incorporated into the SlingPlayer by Q2, 2007. Additional details will be announced closer to launch.

I found the video, thanks!
For those of you that want to see the video, here's the link:
It will be interesting to see if they will allow you to capture an entire TV program for later viewing.
After all the discussion last year about our rights to fair use after Slingmedia dropped encryption into the Slingstream breaking the At Large software, Slingmedia is now providing a solution to put copies of the video on the web to share with non-licensed viewers of the content? There must be some form of DRM built into the product unless Slingmedia has reversed its position.
From the article Brandon posted...
"Clip+Sling is designed to help Slingbox customers share short segments of programming, live or recorded, with other Slingbox customers as well as the audience at-large."

A shortcut has to be a challenge, because if it was easy, then it would just be the way.

The legal problems might be when someone emails a clip of a movie or something and then it get's posted on the web.
For instance someone snags a movie before it's released (ya, it can be done) then a clip ends up on Youtube.
When someone posts the end to Hannibal Rising (2007) before it comes out in theaters it might cause folks from Hollywood to become a little upset.
That and what would Blake think when The Big lebowski (2) 'The dude quits bowling' is posted? Might make him spill his beverage man. He might have to adhere to a pretty strict, drug regiment to keep his mind, ... limber.

given the current Viacom/You Tube lawsuit, how does that effect the Clip and Sling outlook? personnally I think Viacom doesnt understand today's business model and that any buzz that youtube clips created is good for business. seems if I understand clip and sling correctly you would be providing a similiar hosting seervice like You Tube plus the tools to create it. now your demo at CES showed CBS understands the future of the business but how are you going to get all the big media moguls to leave the dark ages and not sue Sling?
I don't remember exactly what it was but something in the original release made me think the content might have to be "allowed" before it can be clipped, etc.
Slinging Tivo Series 2, Tivo HD, and TW cable from a Pro. Slinging Tivo HD from a Solo, Slinging Humax DRT800, and TW cable from a Classic to Sprint Mogul, AT&T SX66, N62, 8525, and Dell Inspiron 8600 with Sprint EVDO over Windstream DSL.
so they are going to recognize the broadcast flag or something like it? I guess that is a way around it. hopefully Viacom will come to the senses and stop this foulish lawsuit against YouTube and realize how much buzz and viewers those clips were bringing to Viacom shows.
OK, it's officially Q2 of 2007.
Being a new SB user I am excited about the prospects of cipping the highlights from a UFC fight or a portion of a hockey game.

We're still hard at work on Clip+Sling. Q2 has obviously come and gone, but the additional functionality we're bringing to the table will have made this wait very worthwhile. Thanks for hanging in there!
Slingbox SOLO w/ ASUS Wireless Bridge streaming TiVo Series3
Zatz Not Funny!
will slingbox attempt to charge for the clip+sling feature or becasue it looks to have a lot of advertising on it (CBS in the one video example) will it be free to download?
Does this mean that some sort of TiVo rewind will be built in? I use the Tuner and I miss the ability to do an instant replay.
