Dear All
Does anybody know what to do??

I have checked the ethernet cable on my Slingbox Classic and it work´s perfect there.

When I use the same cable in the SB AV there is NO network.

I can´t make a reset useing the reset button.

Is it broken or I´m doing something wrong??

do you have a DHCP server on your network?  You need one to initially configure the box...

It might be a bad box.  I would call tech support...

Guys -

Just to be sure, you are using the Slingbox Classic and the power-light comes on but no Network Light?  Does the network light even blink when you hold the reset button? Do you get "No Slingbox Found on Network" when you try to start the SB Setup Wizard?

If its the classic, the power adapter should be mfg: Hon-Kwang; 6v; Model#:HK-A112-A06.

I fried my first SB classic by accidently plugging in my Linksys router's power adapter into the Slingbox classic. If its a Slingbox PRO the power adapter is different and should be; mfg: Sunny Model#:SYS1298-1506-W2, 6v.

Hope my suggestions help,

Hi again

NO I use the power supply with the SB AV and not the SB Classic.
I have done nothing to change my network, but the SB AV will not " lock " on the IP address. I cant get the FINDER ID from it. The SB AV just sits there and do NOTHING!!!. No flash from other LED's.
My serial number: I 246 1000 614

Is this close to your other's. Mabye there is a factory fault??

Who can help with this??

Hpt-henrik -

Actually the Slingbox Classic, AV, and Tuner all use the same power-supply. At this point I am not sure if you have a power-supply issue or a "Slingbox cannot get an IP issue".

If you are getting a blinking network light and it will not "lock" or go solid then you need to check a few things:
1. Make sure you have a DHCP enabled router as opposed to a Static Network. (most routers come this way by default)
2. If you are using a wireless bridge or SlingLinks to the Slingbox, try hard-wiring the Slingbox directly to the router to see if it picks up an IP address.
3. Also, sometimes you need to expand the DHCP client pool to help get an IP for the Slingbox. What is the Make/Model of the router you are using. (ie Linksys WRT54G)

Let me know. Glad to help.
- I really dont think you have a bad box or pws, just needs some help getting an IP.

Hi Slingin In The Rain.

My router is a D-Link model: DI 614+

On the: LAN side there it is just the normal ( 192.168.0.2 to 253 ).

WAN is: Dynamic IP Address.

I only get light on the power LED and the Network LED dosen't do anything.

I have tried to change the Ethernet cable without any luck. To be sure there is access in my system I then again hock the SB Classic to the same power and ethernet cable and IT works perfect. I can't make a force " reset " to the SB AV box.

I can't get the FINDER ID out of the box, so I can try to log on to it.

I simply don't know what I can do here..........

Henrik -

Ok, eventhough you are not getting a Network light, that is ok. Does the Sling work on your LAN (Inside of your local area network)? Have you ever been able to watch the Slingbox outside of your home?

The Finder ID can be found by going to:
1. Slingbox Directory (First place that opens when you start SlingPlayer.exe)
2. Select your Slingbox from the list, and click edit.
3. The finder ID should be displayed at that point (its 32 characters long)

If you dont mind could you PM me with your Finder ID and VIEWING password so I can try to diagnose further from my local (Costa Rica)?

You can change the VIEWING password as soon as I test, so I cannot reconnect. If you dont feel comfortable, please try to use the FInder ID and password to connect from a remote location (Outside of your home network) and tell me if you get any error messages?

PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR FINDER ID AND VIEWING PASSWORD IN THIS THREAD. PM ME INSTEAD by my picture, you should see a link for PM.

If you dont feel comfortable with this, that is ok we can troubleshoot further over the forums. I think you need to enable remote viewing on your Slingbox and open up a port on your router for remote viewing to work.

I have the same issue. Fortuantely I have two SlingBoxes. After swapping things, I've isolated the problem to a bad DC adapter. It delivers enough juice to power an LED but not boot.

The bad adapter is throwing off electrical noise that is causing RF interference with audio devices. Plug the adapter in, you get noise. Unplug it, noise goes away. Other adapter works perfectly.

Light in POWER, but no light in NETWORK.

I am having the same problem the OP had. I am using a SLINGBOX AV also. Any suggestions where I can buy a power adapter? This is the specs.

- Mfg: HON-Kwang
- Model: HK-A112-A06
- PRI: 100-240V~50/60Hz 0.45A
- SEC: 6V~0-2.4A(SET AT 2.0A)

Thanks.

PS MY other Slingbox, which is a Solo works great BTW.

My working Slingbox Model SB 150-100 gave up, now i have the green light for power and no light for network. I use DHCP and other machines get IP. My cable is fine as i have tested with laptop.
So what gives?

Ps - changes power supply still no joy.

same problem, green light on for power and no network light. This device has worked like a dream for 2 years and then this.
DHCP ? Works
LAN Cable ? Works
Worked before ? Yes
Reset? Nothing happens

October 20, 2009 10:59 PM

I'm having the same exact problem. Network light will not light up.

On the classic - it shows the power light, but will not activate the network light.

Resetting doesn't work. Switched network cables. I'll have to try another similar power supply. Otherwise it might as well be dead.

I have the same exact problem.

Slingbox classic. No network light.
Power light yes.
Will NOT reset, despite holding down the button.

DHCP network.
Worked for years.

I also have the same problem.
Slingbox pro
Worked just fine before, but now the network light just blinks rapidly, and then blinks slower. There is no longer a fixed light, as it used to be.
I use a D-Link 655 router.
I have tried connecting it to a SMC router aswell, and looking in the web-interface on the smc, it seems that the slingbox gets an IP, but I still cannot get a fixed light in the network lamp on the slingbox.
The Slingbox is a US model.
I use an powerconverter to power the original adapter that came with the Slingbox.

Please, does anyone know what to do?

I have same problem as Filmgeek. Have classic. Worked for years. Green lights yes. Network...no. Replaced power supply once which solved the problem for awhile. Have yet another power supply on the way...19.99 from Sling (though I would rather buy a more reliable one in the aftermarket if such a thing exists). First replacement was free. Not sure why I am being charged now.
