With this speed the picture will be noisy but can be viewable if this speed don't get soo low. If you are expecting to watch sport, try to find a better speed ;-). if is for no speed action movies, it could be ok.

Hey Guys,
The other day one of my friend brought me an Slingbox Pro from USA. I live in Chennai, India, where you have the limited cable TV channels, if not using one of the setupboxes from TataSky, Dishtv, or even Sun Networks. I hooked up my slingbox using the supplied splitter. ie. the Main cable wire directly goes to the one end of the splitter and the out of the other two 1 goes to my Slingbox and other directly to the TV. I used the sling supplied coax cable to connect to slingbox from the splitter.
Once this setup is done, I went ahead and added the slingbox to my wireless SMC Router. Once this setup in place, i Switched on the slingbox, router, and started configuring the Slingbox. To do this, I have already downloaded the latest UK Version of the slingplayer software(1.41). Once this sw is installed, it immediatly recognized the slingbox from my network. Then during the Configuration screens, i have selected co-axi cable, next you can select either analog arial or cable with out cablebox.. either of them worked. Well offcourse, I have selected 'India" from the country list. Then started scanning the channels, to my astonishment my slingbox was able to scan 45 channels (these is the no of channels you get when you using the basic cable tv, i guess, chennaits know this). save the settings and you are done.
Now i started my slingplayer and i was able to watch all the programs. One question still puzzles me here is "I KNOW FROM SLINGBOX PRO SPEC THAT ITS INTERNAL TV TUNER IS BASED ON NTSC. IN INDIA WE USE PAL". But who bother, as long as it works.
Now I am a happy slingbox owner in chennai. my next step is to set this up in internet. Am waiting from my Internet connection from state owned BSNL. I am not sure when are they going to give me the broadband connection.. counting fingers....
I will post, some pictures of my slingbox running SUN TV, JAVA TV, RAJ TV, ETC.. soon.
Based on my experience, i can say that the slingbox pro works in India. so if any of you guys waiting to buy i will say go ahead and do it.. only one catch.. its your money.!!!!
Feel free to contact me, in case you need any help regarding my slingbox setup

Subbu,
Appreciate your feedback for remote setting . HEard i might need to load UK Firmware to get tatasky+ working, if true how do i do that ?
manachinu said: Thanks for the feedback, i was expecting to do the things mentioned above. I have a 256 kbps unlimited connection in india from BSNL hope that will suffice for slingbox use.
OK if you have 256 kpbs up and intend to stream overseas then no. Even in the same city you might only get 200k on remote connection.
if you have no choice for watching then you accept the quality it comes with. You will find commands quite slow and the picture quality will not be very good.
However something is better than nothing.

@ My City on Remote Connection (From Cable Internet @ Home to PhoneLine Internet @ Second Place) goes to 230Kbps~ of Speed from 256Kbps of Upload... Hope to get more soon... At least, i could use from LAN Using :-).
I am going to upgrade my home connection to BSNL 512 kbps unlimited connection. Guess this will give me better performance .
Can someone confirm if TataSky Plus will work with slingbox solo ? And what remote model should i select.
TataSky+ Box could be working... Tell me the model of the Thomson receiver and we could see if it's fully compatible or not ;-).
I dont have the HW so cant tell, called the customer service no but they just said it a Thomson device.
Where can i find a list of supported virtual remote and stb related to solo ? I searched slingmedia but no luck.
Unfortunely, Slingmedia just changed their website deleting the part with the Receivers compatible :(...
However, i just attached some of the Thomson's Boxes compatibles via the Setup AV (Via Classic).

Soo look at the back on your TataSky Box if you see a Product Model ;-).
Looks the physical remotes for TataSky+ and UK Sky + are identical, so is it safe to assume if UK Sky+ is selected as device on Slingbox will work with TataSky+ ?
UK Sky+

Tatasky+

I think it's look as the Sky+ Remote, i think it could be compatible with your TataSky+ Receiver (you'll see the Sky+ Remote via SlingPlayer (if UK)).
EDIT : I just checked, When you choose SKY via Satellite You'll see Tata Sky... i guess is the Box you are looking for !

Looks to be Tata Sky and not the tatasky plus but thats good enough. I wont go for the + model and wont have DVR on it.
BTW, how can i load UK Firmware on USA Slingbox ? During setup of sling player i selected UK as country, will this help ?
It'll help if you put UK as country, is more with the SlingPlayer to do i think ;-).
Tip : To get more chances download the british version but the codes should be the Same for every boxes (need verifications).
