Hi everyone, I'm a UK slinger, and have a Netgear DG834G Adsl router.Slingbox has been working fine on my home network, and even when abroad(USA & AUSTRALIA) have managed to watch my slingbox, although withh some occasional problems. I went through the sling setup assistant but when i get to remote viewing(fully automatic UPNP),it searches for a minute and then says"the slingbox can not be reached from the internet.please check your routers port forwarding settings" I used the Netgear settings page to add slingbox(from the slingcommunity) to manually add the slingbox, and ran the slingsettings again, only to have the same result. Like i said,i have watched my slingbox out of my home network but am concerned that according to the slingbox setup assistant, remote viewing isnt working. Can anyone help! Many thanks

Its really not that difficult here people.. Forward the port on your router.. then from an outside network open up slingplayer an connect to your routers public IP on port 5001, or whatever port you setup to forward to your sling.

If you want to use UPnP to have your slingbox open the port for you then this has to be enabled on your router -- quite often this is disabled by default.

You say you have managed to view your sling from outside your network -- so I am not really understanding what your problem is?

Always use a static port forwarding rule. UPnP is meant for temporary port forwarding and not very well suited for the SB.

Check www.portforward.com to find instructions on how to forward port 5001 to the IP address of the Slingbox. They have specific instructions for this router and the Slingbox.
