Hello, I would like to do the remote timer recording. So I am investigating DVRs for the remote control. But I can't find out what model can be controled. Slingbox rep couldn't provide good information. So, could you tell me what DVR model can be remote-controled full function? or what do you recommend? Also, Please let me know how I can set it up.

Welcome to the sling Community. I recommend a TiVo. WOrks great with Slingbox and great without!

Thank you for your recommendation. But now I decide to buy a simple DVR because I need to pay monthly fee if I use the Tivo. So I am looking for a DVR whch is controled by the Slingbox. Do you know any DVR?

I think it would be very helpful to other members to help you if you perhaps described your needs a little more than just "DVR that works with slingbox".  Satellite, Terristial, Cable - models you are looking at etc. etc..

I think researching a little yourself would be a big help and then we can help with slingbox bit... in your final choices

Cheers

As bounderboy stated, you need to provide some more info on where you are and what choices you have.

Scientific Atlanta DVRs (provided by many Cable companies) work perfectly with Slingbox.

DirecTV + Tivo works fantastically with sling.

Hi

Has anyone out there tried using a Daewoo DSD9503 TFP DVR? It seems to have quite a decent spec but I cant find it in the list of supported DVRs.

There seem to be lots of other Daewoo DVRs so is it likely that the remote setup will be the same?

I had some difficulty with a Thomson DVR but eventaully got the remote sorted with help from a guy called Mike in the community. Unfortunately, that DVR seems to have a tendancy to freeze and I keep having to get my brother in the UK to physically unplug it to get it going again.

I'm hoping the daewoo will work OK as it looks good value for monety for the Spec. Appreciate any feedback from someone who has had experience of this machine

I was also looking for a tivo-like solution without the monthly fees and settled on a used replaytv with lifetime subscription from ebay.  Has worked near flawlessly for the last 1.5 years.
