Reconfigure your Slingbox to use port 443. It is generally not blocked at hotels, cafes, and other public locations.
My 2 slingbox AVs work fine from remote locations, but I am at a Holiday Inn that is obviously blocking the port. Is there any work around?

Unless you have remote access to your LAN network so that you can reconfigure your Slingbox and router its going to be difficult to do I think but certainly using ports 443 and 80 are safer bets in general for getting through

A good way to setup remote access to your home machine is via UltraVnc. See this post

Or try
logmein.com
However, you will need to configure logmein.com before you leave home.

Can you get access to your router remotely? If so, and if you have a router that can tanslate from one port to another, you can do this: 1.) Determine your WAN IP at home. 2.) Connect to your router remotely. Change the port forward rule so that instead of forwarding from your WAN IP on port 5001 to your Slingbox IP on port 5001, make the WAN port be 443. Leave the Slingbox port at 5001. 3.) In your SlingPlayer client, do a direct connection instead of using the finder. Enter your WAN IP in the box and type 443 as your Sling port. This should work and all should be well with the world again... :)

NA9D is absolutely correct but you often need to have setup your router to accept remote access - on the routers I have seen this option defaults to off.
I use www.logmein.com to and it is great and free - quite easy to setup - is there anyone at home that could set this up for you?

Maybe the easiest thing to do is switch hotels. However, you should go to a local free wifi hotspot and see if you can connect remotely from there and make sure it isn't some other problem first.
I've had good success with Hiltons (and related Hilton hotels).
