Look back in the thread..  Did you get just the 4 port or a 4 port and 1 port??

Slinging Tivo HD, Tivo S2, and OTA from a Pro HD, Tivo HD from a Pro, Tivo HD from a Solo, and Humax DRT800 from a Classic to iPhone, Dell Inspiron 1520 with Sprint EVDO, and a SlingCatcher over Mi-Connection cable with 2Mbps upload.

Mine has 4 cat 5 ports, right now I have my PS3 and slingbox connected to it and on occasions I hardwire my laptop into it.(the location is on the fringe of my wi-fi so I hard wire my laptop to download large files)

The question is did you get a good price on the 4 port only or both??

It really depends on the wiring.  The Slinglink uses the electrical wiring to carry the network signal.  As long as their is a continuous path through the wiring (almost certainly to the load center and back out) it will work.  It is possible to have a home wired in such a way that it will not work.  I've seen homes with multiple load centers (the box with the circuit breakers) feeding different 'zones', each one fed one one master LC with the utility drop.  Almost certainly the network traffic would not make it across zones in such a system.  But in most homes it should be fine.

Exactly. Mine works fine from the garage but not from upstairs in my boys room. I only have one load center, but there must be something that it doesn't like. So as they say YMMV

  • if you are using the Standalone Slingplayer or the web based setup program.

There are probably multiple main circuits in the one load center - something separates the two circuits so the network traffic doesn't carry through.
