Hello All, I am already a proud owner of a PAL Slingbox but I bought an NTSC (USA) Slingbox AV for our Sky HD box. My question is has anyone got the Sky remote working with a Slingbox AV? I am not sure how to set it up, My Picture is perfect but the remote will not show on the list.... Had no problems with the PAL version. Did I make a mistake importing the Slingbox AV model ??? HELP ! :-)

I'm also feeling your pain, I bought an AV from the states. And, as you said, the picture is good, but I'm getting pretty keen to know how I can control the coloured keys for the sky+!
It would be great to hear from any other of you AV owners from PAL land!

I would be happy just to change channel at the momment !!!! Sling have a tech looking at my problem... but no fix yet ! :-(
flaskatron: I do apologize for any inconvenience. Our AV unit is sold in the US and Canada; It uses a North American IR chipset that we don't support in the UK. The UK Slingbox should have no problems controlling your HD Sky box.

Sorry for missing this thread - I don;t have a Pro or AV but a USA classic which i can use to change channels and control my sky+ box - by seaching forums for Sky+ it is possible to download a Remote control file that allows you to control a Sky+ box - it is a remote control file that was created by a member on here AndyBBB - this method works for classic but there is a chance it doesn't work with next gen boxes :-(

Same here, with Sky HD Italy, remote control doesn't work (tried all combination of codes, fast - medium - slow, in including all the Pace codes), this with UK Slingbox,
The file offered for download doesn't do much (actually nothing, followed instructions step by step, remote codes don't come out) either.
The Sky / Samsung box works with Sling remote, but it's not the HD box
Looks like my shiney new Slingbox AV is up for sale then. If anyone wants it PM me :-(
I think you all are exagerating... I'm using the american sling (first the original, now the Pro version) with a generic remote control. You just have to scan thorough the remote channels (on setup) until one of the channels make some change on your tv (it tests to turn on or off, and you keep changing the code number until it works.
As any Murphys law study verifies, you will find a good code (not a perfect one) on one of the last codes available (like "60" or something, don't remember now).
It worked well for my Sky + (but then remember, I am in Brazil, and I guess my sky box is from... Africa!, the only one sold by sky itself.
With the found code, you will be able to do ANYTHING it just a little annoying until you get used to because some features you will have to do through the Enter button (like, for instance, to find the program grade, you push the enter (middle button) than find program guide, or recorde programs, etc.
Hope it workd for you. Still can't understand why Sling itself don't add the sky+ remotes like they did with Directv, Tivo, etc...;
Hi, I too have just returned from the US with a new Slingbox AV. Plugged it all in, loaded the player onto my Mac and then came across the issue already reported here... No way to control my Sky+ box !! The picture and audio all look fine but I have been unable to find any generic IR codes from the DVR section that will do anything on my Slingbox. I have also tried to use the Sky+ specific codes mentioned here on the forum (S1847) but again these have no effect. Has anyone been able to get a US Slingbox AV to control a UK Sky+ ?? If not, is it really not possible for Slingmedia to write one (I note the IR h/w differences mentioned in this thread) I'm begining to thing this is $180 wasted - a real shame as I seem to spend most of my life at the moment in hotels and not at home!! If anyone has any further info on this problem (including any generic codes that may work) I'd be very grateful... Thanks in advance, Lee
Surely they need to make it clear that the US version will not allow the IR control to work with probably the most popular Satellite box in the UK.
I just purchased and setup my US Slingbox today after saving £75 purchasing it abroad. We get ripped off on everything here in the UK.
So now I cannot control the remote and would love for a Slingbox representitive to give us an answer as to when they will update their IR codes for the next firmware update. This is something that should be fairly simple.
If not they should have some instructions on how we can swop out our box here in the UK for one that will work correctly.

Thanks for the thread. I have managed to get my Sky HD, Slingbox Classic & intel iMac configured after lots of head scratching (rare since I started purchasing Macs!)
I used the s-video out & separate red/white audio leads from the back of the Sky HD box.
Initially I could not get a picture as my brother had used the slingbox with his PC but holding the reset button for 5 seconds fixed this and facilitated the set up assistant.
Next problem- changing channels from my iMac. Solved by
1. placing the IR transmitters just to the right of the central 'blue circle' on the HD box
2. Going to 'Slingbox directory', 'edit', choosing 'Satellite' (rather than 'DVR'), then 'Thomson', then 'other'.
I found that code 7 works for me. Can change channels, access my planner & record. The sky HD remote control is even shown. Only problem is the quality. Maybe I need the Slingbox Pro HD...
And wait for the ordered 02 ADSL2 to take my pathetic BT internet above 0.7Mps (at £24.99 a month!)
