Greetings,

It seems that Slinplayer Mobile is not compatible with the newest version of Windows Mobile. I've tried on two different devices. Anyone know when this will be resolved?

I installed WM6 on my Cingular 8525 a few days ago and much to my chagrin SPM_PPC_1.1.0.95_NA will install but will not connect to a slingbox. You don't realize how much you sling until you can't do it anymore. I saw the news clip where the folks at sling are saying that in the future slingplayer will be compatible with WM6 but with March Madness coming up, this is going to suck. I may have to revert back to WM5 for the month of March.

I too am hoping for WM6 support as soon as possible.  I would love to upgrade to WM6 but will not until slingplayer support is available.

Thanks in advance guys, I'm sure you are working on it.

Just curios how you got WM6 on your 8525 - though given the SP problems I'm not going to upgrade just yet.

XDA Developers Forum has rolled out an unofficial version of WM6 for the Hermes Class units.  Search their forums, it's a free download.  I've been following it closely and while it seems that WM6 really speeds up the performance of the 8525's there are still many minor tweaks still to be done.  Battery life, which already is not so great on 3G, may be worse, still to be determined.

In any case, no WM6 SlingMobile support is a showstopper for me, I'll not be flashing till I know it would work.

Rumor has it that WM6 may never be officially be released for the 8525, but there is a ROM update due out at any time to enable the PTT button on the side, but it's most likely still WM5.  However one can hope....

I too can confirm that the current version of SP does not work with WM6.  Like one of the previous posters said, it will install and act like it is going to work, but eventually times out and says "unable to connect to Slingbox".   This is really too bad.  Let's hope there is a beta version of SP for WM6 out soon!

DOH!!  Thnx REM; I should have figured that out!  Like you I won't upgrade since SP is my third most used program but I will now follow the developments closely.  I'm guessing it will be some time before we see a WM6 SP.

I was reviewing one of the threads over at XDA in regard to issues with WM6 on the HTC Tytn and found that one of the contributors mentioned an event on the log.txt file created in the root directory of the mobile device. I ran slingplayer mobile and checked the log.txt file on my device. Here are the contents:

00:00:00.002  C2743D6A          : ----- Log started -----
00:00:00.003  C2743D6A          : Log Level: 1. Filter: ws
00:00:01.019  C2743D6A  CLIENT  :  Processor Type  = 5
00:00:01.019  C2743D6A  CLIENT  :  OS Version = 5.2
00:00:01.019  C2743D6A  CLIENT  :  Total Memory = 48 MB
00:00:01.020  C2743D6A  CLIENT  :  Available Memory = 18 MB
00:00:13.108  C2743D6A  CLIENT  : Connection established
00:00:30.416  C2743D6A  AUDIOPIN:         Audio Decoder creation fails

00:00:37.896  C2743D6A          : ----- Log stopped -----

The consensus hypothesis is that there is a problem with one of the audio codecs.

Could this possibly be solved with a registry edit on the device running WM6?

XDA has done it again!  I took the fix and put it in a all in one install.  This file is the Download from Sling with the add DLL.  Run the CAB from device.  If you already have slingplayer installed then either un-install the old first or use the zip file below and extract the DLL only to the \Windows dir on the PPC or use the DLL Only CAB to instal just the DLL.

Why do you keep posting a message that says "MESSAGE"?

Slinging Tivo HD, Tivo S2, and OTA from a Pro HD, Tivo HD from a Pro, Tivo HD from a Solo, and Humax DRT800 from a Classic to iPhone, Dell Inspiron 1520 with Sprint EVDO, and a SlingCatcher over Mi-Connection cable with 2Mbps upload.
