Remote viewing will work on my Slingbox Pro the first time I set it up for remote viewing.  However, after the first instance of using the Slingbox Pro remotely, I can no longer connect.  Slingplayer locates the Slingbox Pro, but never makes it past the "connecting" step.  Has anyone encountered this problem?

I use a Netgear Rangemax WPN824 wireless router, for which I have opened up a port for the Slingbox Pro.  I also have a Slingbox classic connected to this same router which I have always been able to connect to remotely.  I've configured the Slingbox Pro and Slingbox Classic exactly the same (with the exception of two different ports), so I can't see why the Slingbox Pro doesn't work consistently.  Any guidance or suggestions would be appreicated.  Thank you.

I would check to see if your router is actually keeping the LAN IP address for your pro, or if it's dropping it from the network. Look in your DHCP configuration on your router. I had this problem until I hardcoded the IP address of the slingbox into the router. Here's the thread that talks about that, as well as the walkthrough on how to do it.

see my post about 2/3 of the way down the page.

Andygsu, thank you for replying, unfortunately, I manually configured my router, rather than using UPnp.  It still doesn't solve the problem.  I just reconfigured my slingbox pro with a new LAN IP address and port number - maybe that will do the trick.  Open to other suggestions.  Thanks.

Not sure if this will help you, but I have also had sporadic problems with the WPN824 and my Pro ( only sling that I own). On occaision I have had problems with not being able to connect.  I have tried to UPnp and manually configuring the port and every now and then, connection fails.  I have had to either manually reconfigure the port or disable and re-enable UPnp to get it back on line.  For remote connection, a VPN and remote desktop is your friend.

Good Luck,

 David

I am having the same problem with the same router, WPN824v3. Two and a half hours with slingbox support doing everything imaginable and still not conecting. Have not yet tried turning off UpNp on the router. Has anyone tried that and does it help? I am not super tech savvy but can do most things with some help.
