I have now had my slingbox for a month and can't use it - help

the techs can't seem to help either and I am desperate

I get right through to the last stage of set up when I get the message that says 'The slingbox cannot be reached from the inernet - please check your routers port fowarding settings'

My router is ZyXEL on telefonica in spain (if that makes any difference)

I am not the most computer literate person in the world so some of the help sections do go over my head.  I believe I have enabled UPnP on my laptop and i do have an internet connection and am able to use it.

I have tried amending ISP and Port settings to no avail and have now put them back to the original.  I have reset, rebooted and done everything i can think of

basically HHHHEEEELLLLPPPP !! Anyone any ideas

 thanks

What is the Model number of your ZyXel router?

Do you have a reserved DHCP or static IP for your Slingbox?

Have you tried port forwarding?

How is your Slingbox connected (via CAT5, wireless gaming adapter, SlingLink, etc)?

I'm using a ZyXel X-550 router and may be able to help you with settings.

I have a similar problem to the previous poster. I purchased a UK Slingbox and had it sent to Spain where my Spanish sister-in-law has ADSL with Telefonica. I had her (and a technician from her store since she owns an electronics store) set up the Slingbox connected to the Telefonica modem/router (I believe it is a combined unit and I also believe she has a dynamic IP via DHCP). The Slingbox is connected to an antenna and is able to receive 20 or so TDT digital channels and can be viewed on the home network, but is not seen when I try to locate it from here in California. Complicating matters is the fact that neither my sister-in-law or her technician speak English and all of the software is in English. Can you please help? Is it a firewall problem or something having to do with NAT? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Raj shastatrader rapatel@yahoo.com

i'm still working on my problem but i think i may have to get a non telefonica router and purchase one on the recommended list because nothing else seems to work and can only assume that the telefonical router is not compatible.  It is ZyEL but doesn't have a model number or name or anything that can enable people to help me.  It appears it is one unique to telefonica.  If i get any luck when i get one off the recommended list i'll let you know.

thanks Chrisfix for replying but i can't provide the info for you to be able to help me because the thing doesn't have model number.  I am in limbo land
