Just got the Slingbox and have it up and running, well using it in the home I have it working, still to try it when I’m away which I will be doing this weekend!

The only thing that has never came on is the power light, is this suppose to be on? As I said all is ok other wise!

Thanks Dave.

The power-light should be lit whenever there is power on to the device. I would say if its working fine other then that, no big deal. If you bought the Slingbox within the last 30 days or so, you could always try to replace it at the point of purchase, but I would not be concerned if everything else seems to be working. Maybe a bad LED connection. Not sure

Keep on Slingin'

I am very sorry to hear that you are having these issues with your Classic SB. Can't connect from a remote location usually means that you need to setup port-forwarding in your router(s). This is not very complicated if you are not experienced/comfortable with configuring your routers.

Please give it one more chance be for you bag the whole thing. Couple questions:

1. What is the Make and Model of your Modem? (If you have DSL, its probably a router also)
2. What is the Make and Model of the Router?
3. Is there any other equipment involved in your setup? (SlingLinks, Wireless Bridge, Switch, VOIP)
4. Is the Slingbox and the PC that you are going to set it up with directly connected to your Router?

If you can give me these answers I can link you to some screenshots that I think will help the cause.

Again, sorry to hear about all the frustrations, believe me once you get it working outside of your Local Area Network it will once again be worth it.

Please Let Me Know.

Hi thanks for getting back to me, after i had posted the message i realised i had not set up the port forwarding!!! I have done so now! The equipment i’m using are

ADSL2+ Modem with High-Speed Mode Wireless-G RouterF5D7633uk4A

Wireless G Ethernet Bridge & Game Adapter

F5D7330

Is there any settings i have to change in the Bridge Adaptor? Yeah i will keep the Slingbox as i travel a lot and it will come in handy!

Many thanks again.

Not sure but I think your game adapter might also be a router. Which means you would be in a multiple router scenario = more port forwarding.

One good way to test is if you directly connect your Slingbox up the the FD7633UK4a you will probably get a solid network light, might have to factory reset. Then if you connect the SB to the game adapter you will probably get a blinking network light.

This would tell you that the Modem/Router and the Game Adapter are probably on different networks (ie  Router =192.168.X.X, Game Adapter = 192.168.2.225, if the last 2 octets do not match, you have another router, the game adatper)

This would tell you if your F5D7330 is also assigning IP addresses, which would make it a little more tricky to setup.

Two possible solutions in this scenario;
1. Log into the F5d7330 @  192.168.2.225 in your webbrowser and look for something about turing  off DHCP, making it a bridge and not a router.
2. If you purchased the Game Adapter recently, you could just go get a wireless bridge or power-line bridge instead these would not have routing capabilities and would be much easier to setup then a dual-router scenario.

I'm not sure how tech savvoy you might be but this is not impossible to setup. The  quick and easy solution would be get a wireless device that does not NAT (assign IPs).

Hope my suggestions help.

G -

I checked out the user manuals for primary Modem/Router - It should have 4 ports on back. One thing that might work; as long as the Wireless Game Adapter is not acting as a router.

1. Hardwire both the PC and Slingbox directly to your primary Modem/Router. (Dont worry about  bringing down the A/V device, it can stay upstairs. Just the Slingbox, IR Blaster, PowerSupply, and Ethernet Cable.
2. Launch the SlingPlayer Setup Wizard and configure the Slingbox w/o an AV device.
3. When you get to the IR code selection, pick the Make/Model of the device you plan on using but just fake-out the setup to make it think the Power-on/off is working.
4. Get the through the remote-viewing portion; if you already port-forwarded on your F5D7633UK4A, this should work the first time.

5. Complete the setup; this will allow the Slingbox to go Static IP (x.x.x.237) instead of using a DHCP IP address like it does at the begining of the setup + it will save all its settings. (Password, IR Code, IP, etc)
6. Once you have completed the  setup,  take your  SB back out to the end of your Wireless Game Adapter.

This should work, if nothing else does. (Unless the WGA is also acting as a router, in which case you will have to turn DHCP off or get a Wireless Bridge or Power-Line Bridge)

There might be another solution that I am aware of; you may have to call belkin or find someone who is better at networking then I, but believe me there are plenty of people out here on the forums that could help in your situation. Might have to post another thread for that help though.

Hope my suggestions help and are not too confusing
