One of the features of the SlingPlayer is it gives you complete control over the device you connected to the Slingbox. If you have a cable/satellite box, you can change channels or view the interactive guide. If you have a DVR or VCR, you can watch a recorded show or even program a recording from outside of the home. In order for the Slingbox to control your device, you will need to select the proper IR (infrared) code for your device. The Setup Wizard will help you find the right IR code.

In very specific cases though, some devices are not included in Sling Media's IR/Remote Control database.

Before giving up though, it’s best to try the following:

• If the manufacturer is listed, but not your specific device, try similar devices from the same manufacturer. Often the same code works for different devices.
• If you don’t see your manufacturer at all, be sure to check the list for the service provider. For example, your TiVo might be manufactured by Humax, which isn’t on the manufacturers list, however TiVo is and the codes listed for TiVo work for all TiVo makes.
• As a last resort, choose “Other” from the list and try the codes listed there.

If your Audio/Video device is not in the IR/Remote Control database, Please let Sling Media know. They are updating the list with every update to the SlingPlayer software, and your input on their web form will help them make sure that they're capturing the most popular devices.
