did you get a soluton? I can't even figure out how to port foward with the soho 6t
I have a Watchguard SOHO 6 Firebox. I cannot connect to Slingbox from the internet with it. I set up a forwarding service for port 5001. But when I try connecting, the firebox log shows it is discarding the packets going to port 5001 with a "TCP SYN (default)" warning. When I use a Linksys router I connect fine. But I need the firebox for work.
Any help would be appreciated.
I never got a solution to this. My port forwarding works for other things. But not Slingbox.
Can you connect with a direct connect, or public IP address? If so, try opening port 5678 for UDP traffic. Port 5678, at last check, was for the Finder server.

I got it to work by enable the pass through for the IP given for the sling box.
Now if I can figure out how to get the connection to work on a Cingular 8125 all will be fine... I can use the 8125 as a Bluetooth connection to my PowerBook but it will not connect using the player on the phone itself.. I keep getting a message saying " Cannot Connect with current connection settings. To change connection settings , Tap Settings"
Same problem when I put on WIFI.... yet all other Internet stuff works on the phone so I know I am connected...
I still cannot get this to work with direct connect or a public IP address. (It only works on my LAN. ) I set up forwarding for the 5678 TCP port.
Watchguard is logging that it's discarding my packets. The message is "discard from <machine IP> port 12345 to <Home LAN IP> port 5001 TCP SYN (port not available)"
glenn9, how did you set up "pass thru" of the slingbox IP? Do you mean port forwarding?
I am able to get my Cingular 8125 to work fine with WIFI on my home network.
If you go into the controls for the firewall you will find a spot that says "Pass Though" Just input the private IP address for your Sling Box.. That wored fine for me..
I actually have a Firebox X version now. I don't even think I have that passthru feature in this firebox.
So as it turns out it is actually working (somewhat).
I use the opt and trusted networks at home. If the slingbox is on the trusted network, devices on the trusted network connect to it fine. But devices on the opt network cannot connect to it. (And vice/versa.) That's why I thought it wasn't working. I thought devices on the opt network would try to connect through the internet, but apparently they don't. Even if I set the players on the opt network to use my external internet address, they still don't connect. I think they are still trying to go direct somehow.
However, I can connect from the internet when I'm completely outside my home.
I'm not allowed to configure my firebox to allow data to pass from opt to trusted. Does anyone know of another way to force devices on the opt network to use the internet to try to connect?
