Hi to all - thinking of investing in a Slingbox to use with an iMac G5 1.8 running latest OS for Power PC (home network) and with a MacBook Pro (running latest OS for Intel Macs) out and about. Have a couple of concerns - wonder if anyone could offer any advice?

 1. Are the new versions of the Slingbox available in the UK? In Currys/Dixons they only seem to stock the original version? Will the original Slingbox work with a Mac and Sky Plus? Or will I need the newer models? And if so, does anyone know the serial or model numbers to differentiate?

2. I use Sky Plus - any issues with Sky Plus running on an MacBook Pro? Is remote functionality available?

3. From what I have read, there seem to be a few technical issues to overcome. I have a wireless network (using original Airport base station), with a bridge to an Airport express unit - which I then should be able to connect directly to the slingbox which will be connected to the Sky Plus box. Is this correct? And if so, is anyone running the same set-up? Working ok?

All feedback gratefullly received. Thanks for your time.

No problem with a UK Slingbox (the original Classic) and a Mac. We use our MacBook on both OSX and XP and in fact the MacBook remote control makes the Mac experience better than the XP one.

As for what you hook up to the Slingbox, it doesn't make any difference whether you're on a Mac or a PC. The Slingbox outputs a TV signal via the internet and it's just a matter of which software is used to  pick it up. I susect a search of the forum would reveal lots of infor about Sky Plus.

Can't offer any insight into your network query though!

Thanks SJ, that's helpful. Can anyone else tell me if the 'classic' slingbox will work with Sky Plus? Or if there is full functionality? Or if my network set-up will work ok? Cheers in advance

I have used a 'Classic' Slingbox quite happily with Sky Plus and now with Sky HD with a MacBook Pro - the Sky functionality is fully supported (the controller even looks like the Sky remote on-screen). We have a hard wired network link to the Slingbox, so I can't comment about the Airport setup.
