Hi there:

Another Slingbox newbie joining the forum here. I was pretty well versed on the Slingbox concepts but stopped keeping track of new models and now I'm a bit overwhelmed. I thought I was going to get service with DirecTV on my apartment complex but that fell through the roof today as they told me I'm not allowed to have satellite service int he complex (no mention on lease or any other documents) I had ordered an A/V model, and now I want to know if the A/V model would work fine with regular cable service (the one that the complex provides at a ripoff price, no set top box required). Am I missing anything because I have the AV and not the Tuner model? I searched on the website and on slingbox.com, hoping to get the users manual to clear up some of my confusion, but I'm still lost.

Thanks to all of you that contribute here. Your help and patience is greatly appreciated

Cheers,

Roy

Hi ROY.. Yes .. the A/V will work fine with your Regular Cable Box, you just have to connect your Audio and Video sources from the Cable Box to the SlingBOX, let me give this Link where you can Download the A/V manual so you can see the Instructions..  http://us.slingmedia.com/page/downloads.html  enjoy the SLINGBOX it's amazing...

Thanks for the prompt reply. My  cable service here does not require a cable box - the coax goes straight into the TV.
