In an effort to reduce the number of ‘lockups’ on my Slingbox Classic I took the advice of a number of contributors to this forum and swapped my wireless router.

I now find I have a new, and as far as I recall from my time on this forum, unreported problem.  Luckily I have been able to watch the Slingbox during this procedure so can report the symptoms.  I have given as much information as I can:

1.         After going out for a couple of hours, I come back and look at the Slingbox and the LAN light has gone out.

2.         However, when I start Slingplayer the Slingbox Directory shows the LAN option as being available (a bit odd?)

3.         Selecting that option I get the ‘Connected’, “1 pending’ and “Starting Stream’ messages, but no video/audio appears, however long I leave it.

4.         Looking at the Slingbox, the LAN light has now appeared and the ‘Sling’ logo is backlit, confirming the connection.

5.         Disconnecting from the Slingbox (or closing down Slingplayer), has no effect on the Slingbox, the logo remains backlit.

6.         When I select the Slingbox Directory, it does not show the LAN option available and selecting the shortcut simply results in the ‘Connecting” message.

7.         HOWEVER, if I now disconnect from the Slingbox then the logo light goes out and the Slinbox gets properly disconnected.

8.         In the Slingbox Directory the LAN option is again available and when I select it everything starts to work properly.

Does that make sense to anyone ?   It's a bit annoying to have to connect 3 times to get it to work.

Did you reset the slingbox and set everything up again? I would give a try if you didn't

Eventually solved the problem, and it is one of those that makes you want to hang your head in shame and curl up in a corner.

During the rebuild of my setup with a new router I managed to switch power supplies between my cable modem and the Slingbox as they have the same size tip.   Switching them back and everything works perfectly.   (What makes it worse is that I had taken the opportunity to label them so that wouldn't happen, but labelled the wrong supplies)

So today's piece of useless information about the Slingbox is that will actually operate of a 12V supply without any apparent trouble or long-term damage, but locks up after a few minutes.

But it much prefers a 6V supply :-)

It happened to a person that I know

You need to Enter the Player TAB

Look the option it says Home Network video Quality

move it all the way to LOW apply

then move to encoding and where it says Frames per second Fps change it to 20 ok....apply click OK

and try now >>>>

<br />Peace !!!

Alan - it was probably over-heating the SB after a while. I hope no long term damage was done, keep your fingers crossed.
