Thanx for the info! Hopefully it will come out in the next few months, I been watching stuff that I download on the monitor but been looking for a product that can project to the tv either w/ cable or wireless, but they all are limited in what kind of file can be play. So sling Catcher is just perfect for my need, and it also can be hook up to the tv w/out the PC if I just want to watch the content of slingbox. :D Does slingcatcher come w/ remote? I wonder how I can change the channels.....
From what I saw at CES, the SlingCatcher doesn't come with a remote. But it seems it'll relay the IR commands from the original device remote. But I could be mistaken. :-)

Now I'm a little confused. Will sling cathcer talk directly to the slingbox connected to the tv or the PC (or internet) that you'd otherwise be viewing on. I plan on buying a Japanese slingbox to sling from Japan and then eventually buying a sling catcher (in the US) to veiw on TV. Will this work out?
That's the part that doesn't make sense to me. I would think it would come with it's own remote, but maybe give you the option to use your original remote. The cable companies don't just hand out extra remotes and some people would have to buy extra remotes for their other equipment..
Slinging Tivo HD, Tivo S2, and OTA from a Pro HD, Tivo HD from a Pro, Tivo HD from a Solo, and Humax DRT800 from a Classic to iPhone, Dell Inspiron 1520 with Sprint EVDO, and a SlingCatcher over Mi-Connection cable with 2Mbps upload.
The SlingCatcher will come with a remote.

awesome!!! This slingcather will probably dominate the market, even iTV or location free doesn't have such function.

Yes - the SlingCatcher is basically a client device with SlingPlayer built-in. It can talk to a Slingbox, SlingProjector on a PC, or to-be-announced broadband content providers.

This is in my top 3 things to buy this year. I am very interested to see all the features and the IPTV offerings as well.
It's already on my Christmas list! Much as I travel this is going to be great!

MegaZone. Thanks for being such a great resource for us slingles trying to get in the game. Since my original question has several questions in it, I couldn't tell what your "yes" was affirming. But now that I understand that a SlingCatcher replaces a PC, It raises the question: will a US bought SlingCatcher be compatible with a Japanese SlingBox? If there is a difference, then do you suspect that the SP SW on the SC can be upgraded or converted to the japanese SP SW? And if it can't, does anyone know when SlingCatcher will be released in Japan (if anyone else cares).
Thanks.
Is there really a SlingCatcher going to market. All the DRM crap seems to have silenced the marketing department. For something that was to be released mid year I expected to hear more than crickets chirping in June. So what happened to the SlingCatcher?

The marketing department has contributed three times in this very thread.
As I stated above, the SlingCatcher is tracking for release second half of the year.

Why do people assume that SlingPlayer is lying about announced product releases when the release doesn't happen on their personal time table? It was the same way about the Mac version, the Palm version, the Symbian version, etc. It's just amazing how much cynicism there is out there just because a product slips from an original target date.
Slinging w/ Catcher, ProHD, Pro, Solo, AV, and a Classic. Two TivoHDs, Roku Photobridge and a Roku Soundbridge, AppleTV, and Vudu.www.na9d.net Follow me on Twitter
Look back at the threads about Sony's LFTV...
The last marketing comment in the "Slingcatcher Is Here" forum was in January 07 saying it would be secnd half of 2007 for a release. The comments in "SlingCatcher release date" were in April. It felt a lot longer. Father's day gifting won't include the Slingcatcher. Halloween..too spooky. Thanksgiving, perhaps! Christmas...a very long time away but definitely in second half of the year. I don't want to settle for a Netgear EV8000 but it is available, does what I want and little is disclosed about the prospects of SlingCatcher. Marketing is usually out there making promises the engineers cannot fullfill but at least the reports keep whetting the appetite of the hungry consumer. I was expecting to be given hints to keep my interest piqued. Why should I wait until Christmas?
Is there another standalone product that will receive a SlingBox stream and put it on a TV???
Slinging Tivo HD, Tivo S2, and OTA from a Pro HD, Tivo HD from a Pro, Tivo HD from a Solo, and Humax DRT800 from a Classic to iPhone, Dell Inspiron 1520 with Sprint EVDO, and a SlingCatcher over Mi-Connection cable with 2Mbps upload.
Wifi Stream from computer to TV, Slingbox stream from TV to my remote laptop. QED
