Good question for I been asking for a while how you add unsupported devices. I have a bin file for my device but have no clue what to do with it.. Please let me if you find out.
Where do the bins go now that the new version has taken the sbav folder away?
well you can put it in the sbav folder, do a search for it. However the beta version of the mac sling player expires tonight at midnight. The new version doesnt seem to allow this.
Well that sucks, Does anyone have an idea if there will be away to add bin files?
well, it sounds like our problem is at the bottom of the list compared to what others are reporting 8(
Ketro, could you tell me a little more for I really have not clue what to do with a bin files and what is a sbav file and now since thee is no sbav file not clue what to do now. By what do you been "bottomo of the list" Thanks
Show pakage contents of the Slingplayer app, locate the Slingbox Setup Assistant - Show Pakage contents locate the resources folder in which you will find the SBAV folder.
Oh' I figured what you were meaning "Show Package" But once I got to resources folder I can not find the SBAV folder. So it must be the old version that had it then huh?
Control click or right click on the Slingplayer 1.0 app, select Show Package Contents, open the contents folder, Control click or right click on the Slingbox Setup Assistant, select Show Package Contents, within this contents folder you should see a resources folder where the SBAV folder resides.
Thanks ru2b12 that was very helpful however adding those files and following the steps to add it to my slingbox has not been very succesful. I followed the steps given on Jp1 site but can't get it to work. Any suggestions would be great.
Hi. Mac SlingPlayer dev lead here.
OK, I'll admit I didn't know about this or that users could even make modded bin files; I just learned about it from our Magister of Infrared Device Universality today.
But gee, whattheheck if it works for you and you don't mind the lack of Customer Support for it, I'm happy to pass on the info. Here's what he has to say about it, straight from the equestrian rima oris:
"The implementation to load the user supplied bin file is there in the Mac build. I just verified this myself. The Setup Assistant picks up the user supplied bin file and it works perfectly.
The user should copy the bin file inside the Setup Assistant package:
SlingPlayer.app\Contents\Slingbox Setup Assistant.app\Contents\Resources\SBAV
Once the bin file is copied in this directory, user can start Setup Assistant’s Audio/Video setup and follow the AV setting. In the Model page, he/she should select “Other” and in the IR code page, user should enter the IR code corresponding to the bin file (e.g. One should enter V1125 if the bin file is V1125_PL.bin).
The bin file should be compatible to the Slingbox IR Blaster chip. So for US 1.0, AV and Pro boxes, the bin files should have “PL” suffix (eg. S1234_PL.bin). For UK boxes 1.5/1.6, the bin file should have “RV” suffix (eg. S1234_RV.bin)."
So, there you have it. Only thing I can add is to be sure to quit SlingPlayer and the Slingbox Setup Assistant before copying the file into the SBAV folder.
Good luck with this, and please post here if this works for you, and also if it doesn't. And as always, the ones that get it working, please help out the rest!

Once I enter the bin number the power button does not light up and my only option is to "go back". do I need to click on anything else? I put my bin number in and seams like nothing happen.
Try selecting one of the codes provided, after that code has been loaded then enter your own custom bin number. This is what i had to do with my remote profile for my Samsung DTB H260.
Hi, And many, many thanks for all the posts on this subject (esp. to Steve H). Now at long last I have my US Slingbox AV working with my UK Sky+ box! One last (minor) problem though - I'm left with a generic remote control rather than the Sky+ remote which I can see the file for in the REMOTES directory. How do I changethe remote being used by the player? Many thanks oce again, Lee
Hi, Lee K,
Pleased to hear your Slingbox AV is finally communing with your UK Sky+ box.
About the Sky+ remote skin: having consulted, interrogated, and otherwised hobnobbed with our Lieutenant of Telecommand Associativity I have learned that it's the Sky+ remote skin file that decides which .bin file it's to be used with, and not the other way 'round. Since it doesn't know about your custom .bin file, it can't choose it. The only way to make this work would be to hack the Sky+ remote skin file, and AFAIK there is no user procedure to do that.
Glad to know this was just a minor problem. *ducks* :-)

Hi Steve,
Thanks for your post re: the Sky+ remote. Being a bit of a newbie with my SB I'm not quite sure I follow what you were saying ![]()
In the player config I select a code which references my bespoke .bin file - in my case S1847. Doesn't this then select the skin file it wants to reference?
Thanks again!
Lee
Sigh... Still waiting on someone to Curb the "curse" of us early NTSC adopters..
Many thanks, I was just able to use your info to add the IR codes for the Philips DVDR3575H to my daughter's Slingbox from my Mac. Seems to work great!
She is now controlling and watching the DVDR from Europe, the DVDR and Slingbox are in Texas.
