Ok, I have Bellsouth DSL with Westel modem.  I have read all applicable threads, and I still can't get remote access at work.  I have opened port 443 on Dlink router.  I have opened port 443 on Westel modem using expert mode.  I just started Slingplayer at work.  It says connected on the directory, but the info line on the player says Starting Stream but I get no video or audio.  I callled my wife at home and she says that the red light in the middle of the Slingbox is not lit, nor is the green light on the Westel modem blinking to indicate there is data being sent.  I guess I can keep trying other ports.  Does anyone have any other ideas on how to get this to work.  I do not have the router and modem set to bridge mode, I just opened the same ports on each.  Am I missing something, or is this just not going to work for me at my office PC.  Thanks for any help you can offer.

Have you set the port that your using (443) in the Slingplayer network settings - and let the Slingplayer utility verify that it can connect remotely?

I don't know anything about the Westel Modem, and what affect opening a port there would do - is the Westel acutally a NAT router as well?  If so, you are possibly having issues with a double NAT from the Dlink...

Have you assigned a static IP to the Slingbox (or a reserved DHCP IP)?  When you port forward in the Dlink, are you forwarding to that static IP?

Is there a specific reason you're using port 443? That's the standard HTTPS protocol port. This is bound to cause all kinds of issues.

I'm guessing you're using that port because of a firewall at your work that is blocking other ports. If so, are you going through a proxy-server? If you are, you'll need to enter that information as well.

But, my suggestion is to switch from that port to something else if you can.

I have set to port 443 in the slingplayer network settings, and it tells me the setup is complete.  The Westel Modem is a modem/router, and I have opened ports on both the Westel and Dlink for other applications in the past and it has worked fine.  I'm not sure about a static IP on the Slingbox, I thought the IP suggested was the one that ended in .237.  Very confusing since when I launch the Slingplayer at work it says it is connected in the directory, but it doesn't play.  Guess I will try another port, but it is a real pain when you have to adjust settings at home, then wait till your at work to find out it doesn't work and you cant make adjustments at work.

Try another port first. Or private message me with your SlingID w/o the password. So that I can verify if I can see it or not.

Mitch: It would probably also helpful to test remotely connecting from a location other than work. Then you can determine if the issue is with your office network settings or with your Slingbox settings. When you set up the Slingbox did the software successully verify remote viewing? If so, your office is probably filtering traffic.

When I forwarded Port 443 on my router and modem, the slingbox setup verified remote viewing, I think, it just said setup was complete.
