Have you turning off dhcpd on the CC box, and tried a different one? Once you get connected you can set a static.
Any linux distro can supply dhcpd, or windows non server OS can with http://tftpd32.jounin.net/ etc.
Just started tryingto set up my Slingbox, but running into a problem: the network light comes on briefly, then turns off.
Setup:
DVB-C decoder connected to Slingbox via Composite input
Slingbox connected to switch on network served by a homebrew server/router with DHCP active
A bit of troubleshooting shows something odd:
When the Slingbox is powered on or reset and the network light comes on, the link LED on the switch also comes on, the router receives a DHCP request and allocates an IP address to the Slingbox. Immediately after this, the Slingbox apparrently completely cuts the connection, as the link LED on the switch also goes dark.
Interestingly, if I turn *off* DHCP on the router, the Slingbox does stay active, even though it cannot be accessed due to not having an IP address.
So it really seems that something in the Slingbox is killing the connection once it gets that IP allocated. In case it is of relevance, the router is running ClarkConnect Linux with a 2.6.9 Linux kernel and dnsmasq supplying DHCP services. I have various other devices on the LAN (Windows PCs, Linux PCs, an ancient Sparcstation running Solaris 2.5, a NeXTstation and a wireless access point, none of which have any trouble with DHCP. The switch is a 3Com OfficeConnect 10/100Mbit autosensing switch.
