I can't seem to get remote viewing going.  My DSL provider, Embarq, sent me instructions on setting up the Zyxel for port forwarding, but still nothing doing.

Anyone care to give me some basic step by step instructions on doing this?  Would really appreciate it.  Thanks.

That Zyxel is a router. So is your WRT. So, you either set up cascading port forwards, not difficult to do; or, easier, just put the WRT in the DMZ of your Zyxel and set up forwarding only on the WRT.

Thanks for the reply.

Can I ask you to bring it down a level or two, and be a bit more precise ("dumbed down")  about what I need to do here?  Thanks.

The easiest way to do it, IMHO and all that, is to do the following:

1. login to the Zyxel and check its LAN settings. It should be something like "192.168.x.1" - where the x is commonly a 0 or a 1.

2. go to where the DMZ settings are and set the next IP as the DMZ Ip, say "192.168.0.2", if the Zyxel was at x.x.0.1

3.  Login to your WRT and go to the setup page. Under connection enter static IP and set the IP  to whatever you set teh DMZ to. Also, enter the other necessary info for the gateway and DNS, which shoudl be the LAN IP of the Zyxel.

That's it. You now have the Zyxel forward all packets to the WRT and you can do the rest of the setup as if the Zyxel was not there.

You could, of course, use the WRT as an AP only and turn off its DHCP server, but you would be losing a LAN port that way. Well, unless you flash it with something like DD-WRT, and assign the WAN port to the switch.

(As an aside , if your WRT is supported by DD-WRT, I would recommend you flash that instead of the Linksys firmware, as it's generelly more stable, and it offers quite a few more features. Read the wiki/forums at www.dd-wrt.com for more info.)

Ask again if you have any more questions.

I had problems getting my SlingBox Solo to work.

I ended up calling EMBARQ and they guided me through the process of switching my 660 modem to Bridge mode. The internet light on the modem will turn off (at least on the 660) which at first gave me alarm, but I was told it was normal and my internet was working so I was happy.

I had to upgrade my wireless router from an older Netgear to a Linksys WRT54G so the SlingBox could plug into an Ethernet port. UPnP allowed the SlingPlayer software to setup the network to work with the SlingBox and all was well.

So in summary...
1. Put your EMBARQ 660 modem into bridge mode using these directions. (If you have an older modem, use these directions.)
2. Turn UPnP on in your router's settings. (See Sling Media Support's website for this step)
3. Try setting up your device again.

Good luck and enjoy!

Since the link above will not point to the instructions for bridging the modem, would you post the instructions or email them to me? I have tried the
