You need to do port forwarding on your router to open a port for Slingbox.
I just finished hooking up the Slingbox Tuner and installing the Slingplayer in Windows XP. I get the 2 solid red lights on the front of the box, so the hooks are fine. However, the slingbox cannot be found on the network. I have no firewalls on, so I'm confident that is not a problem. It is hooked up to the same network as my other 2 computer in my home and I know the ethernet cable is in working order as I was using it before to hook up my PS3 to the internet.
If anyone can provide some help, it is greatly appreciated!

It ended up working another computer in my house hoooked up to the same router. However, I cannot do the remote viewing setup since it keeps asking me for a user id and password for my router, which is a Linksys EW5HUB that is not on the list of routers in the program. I found that a default user id/pswd would be a blank user id and password: admin. I tried that and several combos and none of them work.
I'm assuming I need to get a new router since I have no software with this one, and therefore can't do the port forwarding.
Also, on my main computer, windows is telling me I have Norton Internet Security firewall on, and won't even find the slingbox. I even deleted norton, yet it still says the firewall is on. I also went into the network settings for the LAN connection under the advanced tab to get to the security setting, but it says the settings are controlled by group policy even tho this is Windows XP and not NT, and therefore the options are grayed out. Needless to say, I'm lost on this one.
Um EW5HUB is NOT a router, that is just a "HUB" matter fact quite a HOLD hub, only 10mbit.
You must have some other device that connects you to the internet - this devices is only a dumb hub.. It does not do NAT, etc. there would be no logging into this device, there would be no web interfact to do port forwarding on, etc..
From a computer that can get on the internet, do a ipconfig /all from a command prompt.
The IP address of your gateway is your routers IP.. This is the device you would need to setup port forwarding on.. There sould be no software required to do this, only a web browser to access its web interface, etc.
Please post the MODEL numbers of "ALL" devices on your network - an someone will be happy to help you. Your computer is plugged into EW5HUB, follow the cables, it has to plug into some other device for you to be able to get on the internet.

It's funny you mention this...the "DUH!" light just went on in my head. I've got a Westell 2200 with my Verizon DSL, yet using my verizon.net username and password or using admin as the user and password as the password, still does not give me access. I'm actually away from home right now, but I do appreciate the help and will post the model numbers when I return. Also, I will try resetting the router again when I get back.
I enabled port forwarding on 5001 thru the westell service configuration and changed the password after reseting the router. However, when I have it automatically detect router, it refuses to accept the user name and password. I can't manually configure it as my Westell model is not listed.
Any help is appreicated!!
Router Info:
Brand: Westell (2200)
Model #: A90-22015-04
Another Dell computer is also hooked up through the HUB.
