First I had a 700wx and slingbox looked awesome on it.

Just exchanged to a Mogul by HTC. Slingbox looks like crap on it. It's all distorted and pixelated.  The only differences I can think of is The moguls screen is bigger, and it uses WM6. The 700wx is WM5.  I am using the 30 day trial on it.  I was going to buy it, but now I don't think I will.

Anyone with the same experience?

spiffy said: Are there ANY PDA phones that look good using Slingplayer Mobile?  I am with Verizon, but I don't have a data plan -- so the only way for me to sling is with wi-fi.  But from my search the only two phones with built-in wi-fi are HTC Touch and Samsung i760, and seems like both have problems with Slingplayer.

Sorry for being off-topic, but does anyone has any suggestions to my question?  I am still using the trial version with Tungsten T5 w/ wi-fi.  But the sync problem is so apparent (going out of sync after only a few minutes -- that is just unacceptable), not to mention some remote control/navigation issues that I am pretty certain I am just not going to consider a Palm OS phone.  Surely there has to be at least one or two Verizon models that works great with Slingplayer mobile?

Well at least I know im not alone with the video playback issues on my Mogul. I just purchased a slingbox about a week ago and the video playback does suck compared to orb on GDI. I really like the slingbox setup and the ease of changing channels  + accessing all my dvr settings but the playback is so inferior to my previous  (free) solution, that Im thinking about returning my slingbox and just sticking with orb.

Did the new WM Slingplayer fix any of these issues?

what WM Slingplayer fix? I know of no such fix...

EDIT: 04/29/2008 @ 1552HRS CST - Wow! There is an update... I'll go update now and see if it fixes it...

I gave up this fight a long time ago with the mogul! I went to the Treo 700wx from sprint! This phone is light years better than the mogul. Slingbox works flawlessly!!

I prefer AT&T though... but, i'm glad you found freedom.

Fixed! under player options there is an option for GDI rendering... Everybody Loves Raymond looks very nice in fullscreen mode. Thanks Slingmedia!

Progress! We've implemented the GDI rendering method as an option when in fullscreen. It's selected by default on the Mogul and Sprint Touch - and should provide an improved viewing experience.

where is this fix from.. do u have to DL or auto update, reinstall cab???

April 29, 2008 6:28 PM

Just download the program. That's all I did. I think they track your phone so they know if you get the free upgrade or trial period.

Thank you Sling. My Mogul is playing much smoother.

The update has made a big difference on my Mogul, it's so much better now.

Quick question... the AV offset defaults to -55 ms. The audio is still a little out of sync but if I change the offset to say, -350 ms, I can only get 2 fps. I tried -155 ms and I only got 9 fps regardless of the fact that the encoding settings show 15 fps. Does anyone else have this problem?

i have to say, mine is not better at all...i've actually seen more distortion on my screen than usual...much choppier...i didn't change any of the settings, just left the default

Have you tried smaller changes on the audio offset? Go up like 5 at a time..

Slinging Tivo HD, Tivo S2, and OTA from a Pro HD, Tivo HD from a Pro, Tivo HD from a Solo, and Humax DRT800 from a Classic to iPhone, Dell Inspiron 1520 with Sprint EVDO, and a SlingCatcher over Mi-Connection cable with 2Mbps upload.

I found AV Offset to be perfect at -47, but I have heard of others at -45. I have never seen anyone at -350, seems way to high.

Instead of manually adjusting FPS, flip the SlingStream optomization back on and let us know how that works out. Are you seeing the same behavior on WiFi and Sprint connections?

Well, so much for assumptions. I'm used to using a -350ms offset on TCPMP that I figured that's what would work well on SlingPlayer. Looks like I was wrong. I set it to -45ms as suggested and it's synced about as good as it's gonna get.

As far as the framerate is concerned, I have the optimization turned on, so the field shows 15 fps but is grayed out. If I change the offset the framerate shown in the settings never changes, but it changes in actual usage.
