anyone else having their classic power supply making a sizzling noise?

do they sell  relpacement power supplies online? I've tried to use a universal power supply, but the power light is faint with it and it doesn't boot up (probably not enough amps)...

i can run my sling with the original power supply, but it makes a sizzling noise -not only is it bothersome, but kind of worries me to have a sizzling power supply...

Do a search here for "hot power supply" or "buzzing power supply".  You should be able to use a universal if you get the right one.  Sling might send you a new one if you're lucky..  I assume you're out of warranty??

Slinging Tivo Series 2, Tivo HD, and TW cable from a Pro. Slinging Tivo HD from a Solo, Slinging Humax DRT800, and TW cable from a Classic to Sprint Mogul, AT&T SX66, N62, 8525, and Dell Inspiron 8600 with Sprint EVDO over Windstream DSL.

i assume so, i've had it for 1.5 years now.  if i hvae a finder code, can i check if i am under warranty?

Many have had this problem. Sling replaced mine well outside of warranty. If it's that hot though, you want to unplug it - it's a fire hazard.

Warranty is one year from purchase. But as Carl has said, some have had thiers replaced even after a year. I would call and try.

HOLY SCHNIKEY'S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For once a company that cares about their customers I am buying a sling av for my brother.  I have delt with sooo many tech companies that just blow you off once they have your money.  Called at about noon pacific talked with steve from sling support shipping me a new powersupply at no cost to me.  I would have payed shipping guys that would be fair.

Ten things I did not have to do

1) call to sircut shak

2) talk to less than knowlegeable boy working summer job  at said shak for 15 min explaining what a sling box is ect.

3) give up and drive to sircut shak because they "might have a "universal" one that would work"

4) call wife and have her read the mv amps ect off the powersupply (AKA black plugin thingy)

5) pay outrageous price for universal plugin thingy

7) dig through the tangle of wires that is my AV system

6) thrice check all the settings so I dont smoke my beloved sling classic

7) say prayer that it doesen't univerally smoke my beloved sling classic anyway

8) Tape or glue the setting swiches in place so they cant be accidently be changed.

9) find sharpie

10) write " FOR SLING BOX ONLY" on the black plugin thingy

I'd 2nd the great Sling Customer Service.  I had lost my IR blasters for my classic, I called C.S. and was asking if it was possible to buy new ones.  The guy didn't question me just asked for my address and I had all new cables a couple of days later.  My Classic was WELL out of it's warranty at the time.

Slingbox Pro Slinging Comcast cable and HD via Comcast HSI using AirLink Powerline adapters; Slingbox Classic Slinging Sunddenlink Cable and D* HR21 via Sunddenlink HSI, using Linksys Gaming adapter. 2 Slingcatchers set up to use both Slings.
