Right now, Sling Media is giving away Tony La Russa autographed Slingboxes for posting a Slingbox related video somewhere online. In this thread, the idea came up that we should do our own little video related contest to do something fun here on SlingCommunity as well. So welcome to the very first SlingCommunity Idol!

Grab your webcam and warm up those vocal cords! It's time to pit your Slingbox related song (be it an original, or parody of something) against every other SlingCommunity Idol.

The best entry, as judged by our own Simon, Randy, and Paula panel (more below) will be featured in an upcoming edition of Sling Out Loud - The SlingCommunity Newsletter, and the winning Idol will receive a SlingCommunity T-Shirt and free copy of SlingPlayer Mobile! A double prize whammy!

Meet the SlingCommunity Idol panel!

We've got our own panel of judges consisting of one Sling Media guy, one SlingCommunity guy, and one SlingCommunity Member. All the bases covered!

Simon - played by Sling Media's own quick-witted Dave Zatz!

Paula - played by SlingCommunity Member, and self proclaimed "nice guy", Floyd!

Randy - played by yours truly, now with 48% less pop slang!

HOW IT WORKS:

As videos are posted, the SlingCommunity Idol panel will make comments in a typical Simon, Randy, and Paula way. Based on those comments, the user can choose to submit a new song, or leave that video in the running. At the time of judging, only one video for each person is eligible.

Of course, members are encouraged to post their comments and opinions.

TO ENTER: post a video or link to a video of your singing in this thread by 11:59 PM PST on Tuesday, July 31st, 2007 to qualify! The judging will take place shortly after. We prefer if you upload your video to YouTube and embed it in your post to make it easy for everyone to see, but links to somewhere else are okay, too.

RULES:

You MUST be a SlingCommunity member to particpate.

Multiple entries ALLOWED, but only one can be chosen as the final video for the contest Read "How It Works" above for more.

Each entry MUST be a video of you singing.

This contest is open to any SlingCommunity Member. Sling Media and Capable Networks employees are encouraged to participate, but are ineligible to win.
