Hi

Looking for some advice before i buy a slingbox.

Im in the uk and have sky + box downstairs in my house and a BT IG1800 (2wire) wireless router upstairs, so can i connect the slingbox to both without having wires going upstairs?

Some of the reviews on amazon have suggested both the sky box and the router have to be in the same room as it doesnt work with wireless however this would be impossible for me as i dont want a pc in my lounge.

I also have a "3" mobile nokia n73 but unsure yet whether id want to use it on the mobile as its £10 a month on top of the mobile line rental

Any advice would be appreciated

you'll need something like the "slinglink". Or, you could get a wireles game adaptor. Or, you could get a router that supports, for example, DD-WRT, and use it as a "client" or "clent bridge" to your IG1800.

Thanks for the reply, my wireless network has an xbox 360 on it using a wireless adaptor for the same reason, xbox downstairs router upstairs.....

Are u suggesting that the slingbox might work wirelessly as i have that xbox wireless adaptor?

Otherwise is it wires trailing thru the house???

Try using the WGA from your xbox, it shoudl work. If you are happy with the performance just buy one more of the same. (I am assuming you have a generic one, not something that is xbox only.)

And, absolutely yes, you can make your sling work wirelessly. I have one hooked to a cable feed in my friend's livingroom, connecting wirelessly to her wireless router in the "wiring closet".

In my case I used an Linksys WRT54G v5. with mini DD-WRT and running in "client bridge" mode.
