Yes, provided their computer meets the minimum specs.
To be more specific, once I setup up my Slingbox at home (I just ordered a Slingbox AV) can I use anybody's computer (with braodband) to watch my TV at home via Slingbox? For example, if I go to a relatives house can I use their desktop to watch my TV at home?
Thanks,
Rocky

Just copy the software to a usb stick and you can run from that. Grab the Sling directory and drop it into the USB stick and then you can just execute the sling .exe to play. works just fine off of a USB.
Got a question from a newbie here.
I get a slingbox and install in my house. My son lives in another state, but he wants to watch the local college sports team on tv. I can send him the files he needs to access via his computer. That all makes sense.
Now I travel for business. A game is on and we both want to watch it. Can more than one person connect to my slingbox and watch at the same time?
No - only one user per SlingBox.
You can run multiple SlingBoxes at the same time - allowing two individuals to watch at the same time. How well this works will depend on the upload speed provided by your ISP.

Ok, I just received my SlingBox AV and I'm ready to install. But first, I have a few questions, as follows:
1. Does the S-Video cable carry both video and sound so that I don't have to use the composite cable at all?
2. Can I do the software setup using my desktop even though I'll be using my laptop to watch TV when I travel?
3. What software do I copy to a USB stick so I can use my laptop to watch TV while I travel?
Thanks, folks!
Rocky
Rocky, to answer your questions.
1. S-video can only carry a video signal no audio. You will need the audio cables too.
2. Yes you can use your desktop to install, just write down your "finder id" so when you install on your laptop you can find it when you travel.
3. You'd copy the slinbox.exe file so you can use it other places if you want. If you just plan to use it on your laptop, install the software on your laptop. The main thing with the USB would be if you wanted to watch on some else's computer and not install the software on their computer.

Can I be watching one thing on my tv thru the dvr and have my sister connect to the sling to watch the same thing (or other shows on the dvr) at the same time?
Yes.
And depending on your setup, it can be better than that. I can do the following:
- Watch the TV
- Record a different program on my DVR
- Watch and/or record a third program using the SlingPlayer - either at home or away
- Watch and/or record a fourth program on my desktop using the installed tuner
Everything has its own standard cable connection, except the TV that uses a simple passthrough of the cable connection from the DVR. DVR's output is then a second input to the TV. All four can be tuned to a different station. We have never done this - usually two, sometimes three of the above. But it gives us a lot of flexibility in how and what we watch. I doubt that we can maintain this set up once we get HD, but since we are not yet there, all is good.

I am using a Classic - but as I understand it, this same configuration could be had with either the Tuner or the Pro.
I don't believe the AV has provisions for a cable or antenna input - but someone more familiar with the new models will want to confirm this.

So far, my Slingbox seems to be working as advertised. I do have a question about the files needed to view TV remotely. I have remote viewing working. I copied all the files onto a USB stick (as suggested here); they total about 70 MB's. Can anyone identify the minimum number of files in the Slingplayer directory that are required to run remotely?
Thanks,
Rocky
I have the same question as RockyRR. I've installed to USB, but I'd like to get it down to the minimum required files.
If you copy the Slingbox folder onto a USB stick, then execute the .exe from someone else's computer, will all of the original saved Slingbox settings be intact on that other PC? Would you even need the finder ID if you have copied the original Sling folder? Thanks!
Rockym, I have the same question. How would "slingplayer.exe" know where on the internet to go in order to get to a specific router?
Rocky
The .exe doesn't know. The .exe isn't the only thing that's copied... it's the entire folder. There there are files it stores that info on. (maybe .ini files?)
I installed the player on my home pc... setup the slingbox, the remote I wanted, added fave channels, etc. THEN I copied the folder to my thumb drive. Now, when I'm at work, I put in the thumb drive and it's exactly the same as at home.
