Just got my Sling Box Pro and set up was a breeze except for the dead audio out ports on the HD dongle. (it's being taken care of) I haven't had as big a WOW with a new device since I got my first Replay TV box shortly after they came out. (it's still alive, don't you just love the lifetime programing subscriptions they came with :-) The 2 big weakness of the Sling Box are the lack of a digital tuner and the inability to learn IR codes which seems something as cool as this would have both. On the web page it is mentioned that the Sling Box would be a great way to watch security cameras. Being a road warrior I have cameras all around the outside of my house going into a Swann DVR4-net. Yes I can view the cameras on line but it is very cumbersome and not as good of frame rate as the Sling Box gets. If the Sling Box is a great way to watch security cameras (which it is) why are there no IR codes for security setups? How do we get those implemented? I'm on a Mac, I have I-RED which is a IR emitter that I can control from the desktop. You can learn IR codes (hint, hint, hint) which I have my security system set up on. I don't know if it's an internal code or if it's universal but for example to put up a quad screen the IR code in I-RED is: S00000000111111110010001011011101320 250 ms 39 KHZ Does this make sense? If not I've just upgraded my remotes so I've got a couple kicking around that I can program with the IR codes and would be happy to ship to Sling Media and don't need it back. I'd also be happy to be a beta tester. How can we get this done? It sure would increase the value of a cool device.

Colovin,

are your swann cameras wireless? I have installed 3 wireless cameras and hooked them up to my slingbox pro. I am unable to switch from one camera to the next through the slingbox. any suggestions

No all the cameras are hardwired going into a Swann security DVR. All the interaction is through the DVR which has IR controls. I had talked to someone at Sling Box about getting the codes in the system. I even sent them a programmable remote (one that I had replaced with a more advanced) with all the codes and a pdf of the remote but nothing came of it. I'd suggest that you get 3 RF modulators, at one point in time Rat Shack had them, no telling what they have now, but there are some frequency agile modulators out there. Put each camera on an RF channel, I'd make sure they were a channel or two apart, and then feed them into the Sling Box tuner. Then all you do is change channels on the tuner and see each camera. Hell I might even do that.
