Yes u can switch between inputs on solo

I'm considering buying a Slingbox Solo when it's released next week, as the Pro is expensive over here and I'm not sure about its colour scheme, but have a question:
Can I attach both my HD Cable box (via Component) and the s-video cable from our baby webcam at the same time then remotely switch between them when I go to bed?
I offered to send the feed on the baby monitor cam to the mother in laws who is 200 miles away and would like to do this most of the time until I go to bed and may then want to sling the Cable picture to my PC.
Or do I need to buy a Pro?

If you have and want sound from the baby cam you will need to split the audio into the Solo and it may interfere with the sound on the cable box..
For video only you'll be fine.
Slinging Tivo HD from a Pro HD, Tivo Series 2 with cable and DirecTV from a Pro, Tivo HD from a Solo, Humax DRT800 from a Classic to Sprint Mogul, Dell Inspiron 8600 with Sprint EVDO, and a SlingCatcher over Windstream DSL.
That's good. I don't need sound on the baby monitor - I have a 5" screen on it with sound already. This will sit next to the TV in the front room so the baby monitor will have full sound and vision capability but the remote monitor will only need a picture.
The baby will be in the bedroom next door to ours so any noises should be heard by us. It'l just be nice for the babies' grandma to be able to look in on her occasionally (she's always on the web anyway).
Cheers, I'll go for the solo then. Happy to pay the £130 for one but not so happy that they are so much cheaper out side the UK as that around $260!
I think the higher price is probably due to the VAT you blokes have to pay on your side of the pond. One would think that with the dollar being worth squat these days that American produced goods would be very reasonable (before too long, the US will be the low cost manufacturing center of the world!). So it may have to do with the taxes and all...The Solo is a nice box. You'll enjoy it.

No, the VAT wouldn't bring the price up to double.
It's called Rip-off-britain, basically most manufacturers charge a lot more when selling in "GB". I have imported boxes before but it can be a pain.
Anyway, don't want to turn this into a moaning thread. I think the Solo will be worth my £130 so I'll get one ordered.
Sports fans who don't care about stereo sound will hook up two inputs on the Solo with one using the left sound channel and the other using the right sound channel and just use the balance control on their PC to select which they are listening to. Some will even hook up the mono sound from an always-on radio tuned to their local sports station to one of the audio channels. The same setup could be used by those with audio/video surveillance.
The older I get, the better I was.
Cheers for the advice. I took the plunge and ordered one today. ![]()
Will there be a Solo forum opening up on here soon?

You will love your new Slingbox.
On the Solo Forum question, You have given me the opportunity to break a little news here. The SlingCommunity should be upgrading their platform in a couple of weeks. When they do, they will add in a new SOLO forum.
The new site will have a ton of cool things added. If you want to see a sneak preview check out some of the Sling Communities sister sites listed at the botton of the page.
And, watch for a news announcement coming soon.
Have a Sansa device or MP3 player, then check out The latest!

Looks like I've got to watch what I say to Brandon... news leaker! :-)
It is true! We here at the friendly Capable Networks office are gearing up for the release of the biggest overhaul to SlingCommunity ever. I'll be sharing more about what's in store for SlingCommunity on our new platform over the coming days, but I can tell you I'm very excited to see all the wonderful features we've been working on over the past year finally come to the SlingCommunity. I don't have a final date yet, but I'll post one as soon as I get it.
What kind of features you ask? One example is REAL private messaging... like you get your own inbox right here on the site where you can start up private conversations with other members! I think everyone will enjoy not having to bounce e-mails back and forth through the site anymore.
There's a ton of other cool enhancements coming with the conversion... and I'll be putting something together to help explain some of them soon.
If you want a preview of things to come (at least functionality... not exactly look-wise) head over to TechLore.com and sign up. Poke around, hit the profile, post something, and maybe even answer a question or two in the TechLore fourms. :-)
I'm very excited about getting SlingCommunity up on the latest software, and am confident after you play around with the new site, you'll love it too.
