I'm in California now,  but going to Japan in a couple of days and hopefully set up my first slingbox successfully.  My sister (has wireless LAN & good signal) lives next door to my parent's house.  I don't want to ask my sister if I can plug into their modem since space is limited at her house, and instead want to leave my SB at my folk's house.  My sister will give me the network password, so no problem getting into her wireless network.

Question: can I leave my SB at my parent's house and send signals through her wireless network? If so, is repeater best way, or???

Thank you.

Personally, I'd first think about burying a good quality cat-5 wire if it is just next door.  But some have reported good luck with wireless gaming adapters like the one for the X-Box.  Use Quick Search in the upper left to find "wireless gaming adapter".

The older I get, the better I was.

Yes, you can do this...but if you are going to always be remote, realize that wireless is susceptible to needing more 'fiddling' with than a hardwired cat5 connection, so it would be helpful if there was someone locally who can at least unplug the wireless adapter to reset it as needed.

That being said, I have used a wireless G gaming adapter (a Netgear product that is no longer sold) with my Sling Classic for well over a year with Zero issues.  I set my Mom's house up with a very nice wireless adapter from Buffalo over the summer, and I can highly recommend it.  It is the Buffalo WLI-TX4-G54 Wireless Ethernet Converter (say that three times fast)!!

Check it out at the link above.  The nice things about this particular box are the relatively low price, detachable antenna, AOSS compatability, and it sports 4 wired ports instead of the usual 1, giving you additional flexibility.  Plus in my experience, it has been very stable and has good through-put.
