Hi,

I have been using slingbox classic and cable TV successfully for the last 1 year. We moved and we have Direct TV now. Is it possible to connect slingbox classic with Direct TV and view it remotely?

Thanks in advance.

No worries.  As long as you saved all of the cables that were included with the classic (AV cables and the IR blaster cable), the slingbox will work just fine with DirecTV.

One word of caution though.  You may want to think about connecting the slingbox to a separate DirecTV receiver dedicated solely to the slingbox, because whatever you want to watch with the slingbox will be what is viewed on the TV connected to the satellite receiver.

Thanks a lot "BBRAUNE"........We have 4 receivers..I will dedicate one for slingbox..Now the problem remains how to connect the cat5 cable to the router that is 10 feet apart....I guess I have to buy a 10 feet networking cable now...

Is it possible to connect the satellite receiver and the router wirelessly with any additional hardware/accessories?

Thanks again...

sk72, don't forget to reset the Slingbox manually, using the reset button on the back, before trying to setup. This will remove the old router settings and allow you to set it up for your new stuff.

Have a Sansa device or MP3 player, then check out The latest!

You can connect any slingbox wirelessly using a wireless gaming adapter such as this one:

I use this exact same model to connect a slingbox that is in a completely different room in my house from the wireless router.  Although, 10 feet isn't too far to run a ethernet cable, so that might be your cheapest alternative.
