Works great.. 10.5 did something with networking.. My speeds have jumped all around. I used to download at 1mb/sec now I am hitting 1.5-1.6mb/sec.
Just thought I would report that I actually see a performance boost (network wise) from 500kbs to 600kbs after the upgrade. The program works great! Don't be afraid of it from that standpoint! Marc
For me, the Leopard upgrade was an upgrade for Slingplayer Pro. In my house network (802.11g), I was previously seeing a ceiling of about 3000 kbps or so while watching an HD broadcast. Today I'm looking at NFL football seeing speeds of 4000-6000(!) Kbps. My Windows laptop running XP SP2 still gives me performance in the 3000 Kbps range. I don't know if it's Core Animation, the new self-tuning TCP stack or something else going on, but I like it!
Hey!
So I was on the chat with Slingmedia this morning for a while (using VMware fusion and xp) and my fathers slingbox tuner worked fine for her. Here, running Leopard on my Macbook Pro I cant get it to work at all, right now it goes into a loop asking me for my password (this happens also on the xp running in vmware).
My settings are correct, and the same settings worked fine on the slingmedia reps system, any advice?
Hi all !
My first experience with my slingbox classic was under Tiger. I had a nice 700Kb/s stream from France to Spain until one day it went down to 250-350Kb/s and never went up again (don´t know why)...
The day I upgraded to Leopard, I felt I was blessed with a miracle when I saw my stream going up to 700Kb/s again with a great video quality. Was that "the Leopard effect" ???
Unfortunatly, today I went back to about 300Kb/s stream, so I think it was just a coincidence...
I already run speedtest on both site :
- upload in France : around 900Kb/s
- download in Spain : aroung 4000Kb/s
Should I try to change the port settings on both ends (in case one of the 2 ISP is trying to mess up) ?
I would love to be able to get back to a nice 700Kb/s stream, if anyone has advice, I´ll be glad to try them.
Thanks in advance
Most current you can download... I am still trying to figure out if we have a mac beta section anymore.. After the forum update it went away so I dont know if the beta for mac is done or not, but the person heading it no longer does it and it changed to a new person who I am waiting for a response.
My lan performance is now reportadly higher too, 7500kps, it was previously only peaking at 6000kps.
I installed Leopard on Wednesday and everything was perfectly fine with my Slingbox AV. Thursday, I realized I had not turned on the firewall and immediately I noticed the pictures degraded quite a bit.
Since then I have toggled the firewall on and off and in order to get the same picture I had with Tiger, I have to disable the firewall and reboot the mac. Otherwise, the picture is far from being perfect.
I would appreciate being able to be able to have a nice picture and to have the firewall turned on.
