Yes, pay what the manufacturer asks...

Do a search for CheckSumCoder's recording tool.  As I understand it, though not as fancy or complete as the At-Large Recorder, it is free.  The author has also posted the source code on the net - so you can roll your own, if you are so inclined.

It records at the same resolution as the At-Large Recorder, but is a bit more complicated to use.  After using it for awhile, I came back to Applian's tools.  And I paid for mine.  I do hope that no one will share their copy with you.  Applian has worked to make their product work well and deserve to be paid for it.

Also, last week, the At-Large Recorder was on sale; maybe it will be again later if you are patient and hand around.

$50 get's you the cracked version of At-Large2.

I myself am reluctant to pay $50 for it also but not because of it's (file size?) but because without the
blessing of Slingmedia, it could very well be rendered useless at anytime.
$25 i might take a chance otherwise... i'll wait and see what Clip + Sling has to offer.
If it doesn't allow full length recording then i'll just look to Elgato for my computer based AV recording needs.

by the way...

Any of you have a problem with At-Large2 and 16:9 program material?
I tried the demo and it would playback recorded 16:9 program material in 4:3 even after fooling with
the advanced settings, anyone else?

Thanks

It might be better to start a new thread when asking a new question.  Don't be surprised if one of the moderators may move this to new thread.

What version of the At-Large Recorder are you using?  One of the first releases of At-Large Recorder2 did have this error, but I have not heard of it being a problem with At-Large Recorder2 (v2.3).  If you are still having the problem, don't hesitate to contact Applian customer support.  They have generally be responsive to requests for help.

I don't care if they move it, no big deal.

I have alerted Applian to the issue with (v2.3) but have not heard back from them and have since deleted the application entirely, just thought i'd put it out there while we were discussing the product.

Does At-Large Recorder work with the newer firmware (the firmware with the stream encryption)?

I remember a product a year or two ago that I believe was called SlingRecorder or something like that and it used to do the same thing as this product, until Sling added encryption to their new firmwares which prevented the program from intercepting the Slingbox's stream.

The current version works nicely with the encrypted stream.  The older version also worked, but you needed an older player.  The current product runs independently of the player - though you cannot use the player simultaneously, it has provision for viewing what is being recorded with a built in viewer.

There is a demo (five minute recording limit) at www.applian.com.

PS  Note:  I have no connection with Applian or with Slingmedia - I am a satisfied user of both products.
