I live in Dubai and am in the free zone marina area on DU internet, all is working very well.

Getting Sling Streams loud and clear for the last 9 months without a hitch - 390kbs - 500kbs streamed via Be* Unlimited in the UK.

Have used Sling Player on Etisalat internet about 3 months ago and it didn't seem blocked then, but it may have changed since.

Hi,  I am researching the purchase of a slingbox for use in Dubai/Sharjah.  Can anyone tell me if they have a slingbox in the UAE and if it is working.  What is the Etisalat connection speed that is required?  Thanks

I have a Slingbox in UK working very well connecting from Dubai with either Etisalat or DU. I live in the Marina area and have a DU 2 Mbs connection and get streams from the UK at 500kbs - 700kbs (I use Be* ADSL 2 as my UK ISP) which works great - good uploads...

I have tried at friends houses that have Etisalat in Dubai and have no probs at all, but as always with Sling you need to make sure your router is configured properly to fwd on the correct ports and actually allow remote access, it is documented, but sometimes tricky...

Good luck,

Andy

I set up my slingbox gear yesterday using the 1 Mbs Du package :). No probs except that the bandwidth seems to be limited to 480-490 kbs. Upload speed is fine through a 6Mbs server in Europe. Does anyone have an idea whether Dubai ISPs are limiting the download speed and whether there's a bypass?

@Andy_K: Did you try your config with another package than the 2 Mbs from Du. Even with that one: Shouldn't your download speed be ideally faster than 500-700?

Cheers
Martin
