I really think Sling should invest in a Linux client....As a potential purchaser, I am turned off by even lack of basic viewing support for linux. Not even a browser based viewer or firefox plugin?

After scouring the forums, I see there are is a wine work-around (or two) but neither worked.

I already own Snapstream Beyond TV, and its an execellent product, but does not work with my Scientific Atlanta 8300 dvr. Your product looks like it will fit the bill, but the lack of viewing capabilities in Linux is disappointing, even though you have a Mac version---which has much less users.

Has the company reconsidered its position on a Linux client?

Thanks

Bob

Though I am not a Linux expert of any sort, it is my understanding that Checksumcoder's recording tool (posted on SourceForge) can be compiled on Linux and then used as a Linux client.  You can find his package by searching Google for "Slingbox SDK".  This is not an official release and is not supported by Sling so you will need to use it at your own risk.

Thanks for the info. I'll probably pick up a Pro for Xmas and give it a whirl..
