The advantage I see to the SlingCatcher is the ability to stream and control your Sling player on a TV without needing a computer. If you want to stream content from a computer to your TV the SlingCatcher can do that as well.
I've been eyeing the release of the SlingCatcher but recently came across a product called the InternetVue by Addlogix (http://www.internetvue.com/products.htm). It is available now.
Is the SlingCatcher appreciably better in some way?

The only thing keeping me from buying an InternetVue is distrust of the brand. It looks like a good solution, but I don't know anything about the company.
If the SlingCatcher is delayed too much longer, I may have to look at the InternetVue instead. It's been sitting in my Amazon shopping cart just waiting to be bought when I get a better feel for if SlingCatcher is on the way.
I think another potential advantage of the SlingCatcher is that it's designed to stream HD content, whereas it doesn't look like the InternetVue supports that.
sling already lost christmas season sales for slingcatcher, does this mean it could take much longer? a word from someaone at sling regarding this would be apreciated.
HDMI has been planned since the beginning..
The SC will be back at CES but no new date on release..
Slinging Tivo Series 2, Tivo HD, and TW cable from a Pro. Slinging Tivo HD from a Solo, Slinging Humax DRT800, and TW cable from a Classic to Sprint Mogul, AT&T SX66, N62, 8525, and Dell Inspiron 8600 with Sprint EVDO over Windstream DSL.
I am finally getting to CES this year and looking forward to seeing the SC in action. The release is way overdue.
More competition but no info on price or availibility..

The SC still has the advantage by being able to receive the Slingbox stream though..

I saw this too...
Reading the discription, they claim it "mirrors" the computer screen without a "player". I'm wondering how it intercepts the video content. The way the article reads there is no software "player" and the photo shows one box (as opposed to a "sender" and "receiver").
Oh well, hopefully there will be more news tomorrow!
That's interesting indeed.
I don't own a SlingBox and I think it's a bizarre use of technology, actually (I figured I either want to always watch TV on my actual TV or on a hotel TV if I'm travelling). The one thing that really impressed me about the SlingCatcher was the SlingMedia brand. The InternetVue/Popcorn Hour didn't have the credibility that SlingMedia has.
D-Link, on the other hand, is someone I'd trust, and at the rate SlingMedia is going, D-Link may come out first!
Here's hoping this announcement lights a fire under SlingMedia's butts to end the feature creep and get the SlingCatcher to market!
Sling Catcher two years now at CES.
The InternetVue specs don't come near HD output. D-link has one that outputs 1280x720 @30 frames, which is 720 progressive HD, the only spec your computer can display (progresive).
Neither one is for sale yet, first out could be the winner. Hey, that's what Blu-ray is going for, Sony wants to own us so bad they can taste it (Betamax,Laser Disc,). I still want to see HD-DVD.
I guess we wait.
Slingbox Pro HD Component - Everex XT5300 440HDD,nVida GT8600m GS Video,4 Gigs RAM, Directv HD-DVR HR20,Toshiba Cable Modem, Linksys router @54Mps.

Question re: the DPG 1200 - I used to run a cable from my PC via a DVI output to the HDMI port on my TV and the picture was everything I could want - the Netflix stream looked perfect. Can anyone comment on how the video out on the DPG 1200 would compare with composite video? I'm disappointed not to see an HDMI output there but I'm note sure if, based on the native resolution of the PC, it matters...
Edit: I'm outputting to a 42" HD Plasma, 1080i...
i bought the internetvue 2020, to be able to watch netflix videos on the tv.
unfortunately, netflix WILL NOT LET ME DO THIS.
a DRM error pops up, preventing me from transmitting the instantly watchable videos from going to the tv, wirelessly.
netflix says it is a security issue, not allowing transmission, which could lead to illegal copying.
they suggest an s-video, or hdmi connection to be able, not wirelessly, to view their videos.
anyone know anything about this?
i do not believe my tv has vga ports, but it does have svideo and audio inputs..

Just buy the Roku player specially made for netflix. I bought it from netflix's website. Works good. Good picture.

Without the SlingBox, there's not much point in having a SlingCatcher.
Want can be better than taking your cablebox remotely and be able to have FULL control of if as if you were home and in front of it...
And, what about getting youtube videos on the big screen of a LCD TV...
Nothing is better than the Catcher so far!!!
