Hey all,

Well, after wasting about 4 hours of my day with SlingBox support, TimeWarner support, and Samsung support I am returning my Slingbox.

Turns out Slingbox cannot be used with the new Samsung boxes that Time Warner (TW) is rolling out in New York City, Milwaukee, (any other places soon).  The model number of the Samsung HDMI digital cable box is SMT-H3050.  The problem is that none of the current Samsung IR codes work for the box and Slingbox doesnt have the proper code.  Worse, a TW supervisor told me that they will not releasing the codes for this box or the other new box being rolled out in Manhattan that features DVR.  Basically, if you have TW in Manhattan you're out of luck with Slingbox.  Very sad, as I really wanted to be able to use the Slingbox technology.

A code can be created for any IR device..

There's a similar issue with Tivos and they've gotten it to work..

Thanks, but will that 00118 code that works for TiVo also work for Slingbox?

I too have the same problem...The code C2000 doesn't work. nor does that 00118 Tivo code. This is extremely frustrating and I wish the people at Slingbox could be a little more helpful. I posted a similar post 2 days ago and NOBODY answered. I'm afraid I might have to return my Slingbox as well.

I'm GLAD you just posted, because I was about to unpack my Slingbox and try again.  Apparently, even IF the 00118 code is the correct code, the folks at Slingbox have to enter it into their system so that it's recognized.  Since the firmware update does not pull up the model, I assume that's why it's not working.  This is EXTREMELY frustrating, and I put the blame squarely on Slingbox, as this Samsung model has been on the market for approximately 7 months already.  It's not like I live in and am using old equipment in a remote outpost, this is a modern model and a common box used in New York City for heavens sake!

CODE 20?  Where did you get this from?

Start your set-up again and instead of selecting "Samsung" as a manufacturer select "Other" at the very bottom of the list...A scrollable set of codes should come up (Code 1, Code 2, Code 3 etc) Scroll down to Code 20 and select it. You should be good to go. FYI I am on a MAC so I cant guarantee it would work on a PC, but I cant imagine we would have different codes....let me know if you are still having problems

There is also a rather good DIY article on the forum about creating your own remote codes:

Lots of good stuff on these forums if you search for it.

You RULE!!  This actually worked!  It's almost feels better screwing over TimeWarner cable than getting this up and running.  I called Slingbox and had them enter in your Other/Code 20 for our model.  Now I can watch my Devils games on business.  THANKS AGAIN!!!!!!
