Hello, I am hoping someone can help me with this problem.

I recently decided to go from my motorola digital cox cable box to a motorola DVR cable box. I connected everything together and noticed my sound wasn't coming from the TV, however, I could get sound to my Sprint Mogul PDA.

Upon looking at the setup I noticed I had the yellow, red and white cables for my Slingbox Classic hooked in the video and audio OUT outlets. Giving the PDA sound. When I switched the cables, putting the TV colored cords in the video and audio OUT outlets, it removed the sound from the PDA and placed it on the TV. It appears I can't have box or my setup is still wrong.

I do have other outlets available but they are for video and audio IN outlets and if I put the cords there, they will not work.

Can someone give me some input how this will work.

The yellow, red, white connecters connected to the motorola box should go to the AV in on the SlingBox, then the cable from AV out should go to the TV.

Another easy solution is to get RCA splitters and split them at the cable box, one set to the SB, one set to the TV..

Slinging Tivo Series 2, Tivo HD, and TW cable from a Pro. Slinging Tivo HD from a Solo, Slinging Humax DRT800, and TW cable from a Classic to Sprint Mogul, AT&T SX66, N62, 8525, and Dell Inspiron 8600 with Sprint EVDO over Windstream DSL.

HUH??!!  OK this is my setup.. I have the yellow, red and white connectors on my TV connected to the AV IN and the yellow, red , and white connected to my slingbox to the AV OUT jacks.  Are you saying I need to switch my connections and I will get sound from each divice?

As for the splitters you have really lost me.  Can you send me step by step directions?  I would really appreciate it.

I think the best thing to do is to take my box back to the cable company and get a DVR box that has cable in and cable out outlets.  That way I wont need the connectors for the TV and I will just use the connectors on my slingbox for the AV out.  The AV cords on the slingbox need to be in OUT in order to hear the sound.

It's very simple. Follow your quick start guide.

The Slingbox Classic has AV inputs AND AV Outputs. It's what's called AV Passthrough.

So you connect the yellow, red and white from the cable box/dvr to the Slingbox's AV In port. Then you take the AV out port on the Slingbox and connect it to your TV.

It's that simple.

NA9D.. thank you for your help. I think my confusion is coming from the fact that I do not have AV IN or OUT connectors on my slingbox.. I only have a ports, the connectors provided to my from Cox Communications, have yellow, red, and white connectors on both ends.  So if I was to do as you say (connect the yellow, red and white from the cable box/dvr to the Slingbox's AV In port) I would need to have a AV connectors on the slingbox or the other end would need to be a port.

As far as the other step ( AV out port on the Slingbox and connect it to your TV), I plugged my AV OUT port in on my slingbox and plugged the yellow, red and white connectors to my TV on the AV OUT.  I got a picture but no sound.  I know the TV should be AV IN but I was experimenting. When I switched it back, I still didn't recieved sound.

Frm the back of my Slingbox Classic here are my ports as followed:  AV IN (port), S-Video IN(coxial) Antenne Cable In, AV OUT (port) , S-Video OUT(coxial).

MY set up:

AV IN port on my slingbox is connected to my AV OUT TV with yellow, red and white connectors

The S-Video IN on the Slingbox is connected to the S-Video on the DVR with a coxial cable.

The yellow, red and white connectors on my TV are plugged in the AV IN and the other end is attached to my AV OUT on the DVR.

With this setup I have sound now from the TV and PDA but my new problem is when I turn off my TV my sound goes out on the PDA but I still have the picture.

I hope this explains my problem a little better.

SlingMaster ... all I can say to you is if you don't have anything to say worth while please don't comment.  I came to this forum for help.  I can ensure you I am only on this forum because  I still have questions. I followed the guide and pictures  originally when I had the guide. I no longer have my guide and this is for a DVR/Cable box not a standard box. Also the support site doesn't appear to have the guide for the classic slingbox.

OK, I don't know how to make it any simpler:

Yes, you have a "port" called AV in on your Slingbox. However, you were given cables with it. The Slingbox end has a single connector that is a multi-conductor 1/4" phone plug. THAT side goes into the AV IN on the Slingbox. The other side of that cable does NOT go to the TV but to the red, white and yellow AV out or OUTPUTS on your CABLE box.

Then, there is an AV out port on the Slingbox. You have a SECOND cable, IDENTICAL to the first one that plugs in there. Then the red, white and yellow connections go to the TV.

Please, follow the signal path and read the documentation. This is not rocket science to hook up.

If you wish to use the S-video cable, you simply connect S-Video out from your cable box to S-Video in on the Slingbox. And S-Video out from the Slingbox to S-Video in on the TV.

If you use S-Video, you do not need to use the YELLOW connection which is composite video.
