The rumors are true.... we've been tinkering around with a BlackBerry and now have a solid player demo going to CES.
Our Product Manager (Vicky) was in discussions with RIM throughout most of '07--directly in response to customer requests--and now that they're moving towards supporting streaming video, we're jumping at the chance to bring you a new client.
The beta for SlingPlayer Mobile for BlackBerry is still a little ways off, but you can be notified of the recruitment by following these instructions:- Go to: beta.slingmedia.com
- Login or click "Need to Register?"
- Add your Slingbox & BlackBerry info under: Add New Platforms
Hope to see y'all at CES! We'll be right at the entrance of the Sands CES area, in a towering-can't-be-missed booth.

Isn't it weird how those guys don't have any logos on their helmets?
Oh yeah... Sling on BlackBerry - woo! Matt Whitlock, the editor here on Sling Community will be at CES with his video camera. We'll make sure he gets some footage of SlingPlayer Mobile for Blackberry to share with everyone.

That looks awesome!!! I am so ready for the BB-Sling!!! Use that Slingshot and get it my way soon please. I applied to the beta so hopefully y'all will take volunteers soon.
Thanx for bringing this to the SlingCommunity.

curious why bberry costs $29.95, but the windows mobile version is free.. some licensing fees? or just looking to monetize bberry users? will they go back and charge windows users?
@ bsaitz: WinMo SPM isn't free. It costs the same $29.95, but if you had registered your slingbox before a certain date, you were eligible to get it for free.
I'm wondering if they'll do the same thing for the BlackBerry version. . .
I am really looking forward to this and please include me in the Beta!
I hope this is up and running for the meat of the Big East hoops season and the start of baseball...ESPN in the hotel just does not do it for me on days when I don't have my laptop w/ me...
This is great news. I added myself to the beta community. Anxiously awaiting!
Long time Blackberry user but have been waiting to buy a slingbox. I wanted to make sure the slingbox model I purchased would work with my Blackberry. Does it really matter? If so, which model should I get? Thx
Did you guys catch the video demo from CES? Vicky Shum, the Product Manager for SlingPlayer Mobile, gives the full tour: http://www.slingcommunity.com/article/26619/SlingPlayer-Mobile-for-BlackBerry...

Any idea on how long before this is available to everyone??? I am looking to get a smartphone and love the peal but dont want it unless i can sling to it!!!
We're still banging away on the Blackberry client! I don't have any specifics to provide regarding model support or timing at the moment. As far as beta testing - assuming you have a compatible model, you may not yet have the handset firmware you'll need. Stay tuned...

Well I guess that's good news that you guy's are still working on it but a bit of bad news that the latest OS for the 8320 (if we are talking just about the 8320) is not compatible.
Are you doing testing on specific models with different OS's to determine which is not compatible? As well as all current OS's that are available for other countries?
