I have a SlingBox (in Chicago) and my brother uses it to watch TV in California.  If I were to want to, would I be able to hook this same SlingBox up to my own computer and watch TV?  If we were to watch TV at the same time would it screw things up (besides perhaps just going slower)?

I guess basically the question is, can you have only one computer/slingplayer be able to watch one slingbox?

Of course, you can watch TV on many computers but not at the same time !!!! If slingbox is used by somebody, you can use your administrator password to access to the slingbox but the other people will be log out.

yes you can, sort of...theoretically you could do this....

Slingbox out of a computer (laptop maybe) into an RF modulator via S-Video/Stereo Audio, then out of the RF modulator into a USB or PCI TV Tuner card that is in either the same laptop or another computer.

Then take this software (The Orb) visit www.mycast.orb.com .  The "Orb" allows you to then send whatever signal is coming from that TV card, bascially, whatever your Slingplayer is showing, you can "re-stream" over the internet.

You will have control over the tv channels, but the other person can open up the same image, via the orb website (you log in to see your video) and then open it up in windows media player.  It would NOT give the other person control of changing the channel though.

This is one solution, if you plan on watching the same thing.

Well my brother paid for the Slingbox but I set it up and he is the one who is using it.  So I assume that he would override me but if he wasn't watching I'm sure he wouldn't mind me watching either.  Thanks for the help Smile

Or you just use the VLC plugin and stream to as many computers you want.

There is some hint that the newest beta for the SLR/Slinger software has the ability to stream to multiple systems.  See this site for details:

The SLR program saves the video as an ASX file. You can direct any machine via VLC or WMP to the file and watch it.

I am testing the SLR recording software.  I find the clips freeze every few seconds, making it unusable.  Any suggestions?
