I have a 50" widescreen plasma TV to which my media center PC is connected.

If I play a normal 4:3 video via Media Center, by choosing option 4, it will expand the 4:3 image to fill the entire screen but doesn't distort the image too much.   I think it does something fancy with the picture and stretches it more at the edge.  I think it is called Panorama view in some places.

The only Slingplayer view that seems to work for me is the 4:3 one.  I presume the widescreen option is for a real widescreen picture because when trying it on a 4:3 one, the picture looks horribly distorted and doesn't fill the whole screen anyway.

Is there any way to emulate what Media Center does with the option 4 selection or does anyone know if Slingmedia have any plans for another display option of "display 4:3 in widescreen".

Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

Thanks

Glenn

Try the Pillar box view. See if that helps.

  • When asking for setup help please include whether you are using a PC or Mac and
  • if you are using the Standalone Slingplayer or the web based setup program.

No sorry, that just chops the sides off.
